location is good but a little scary at night, as is all of Guayaquil except for the Malecon which is fenced off. The hostal is completely safe once you are inside and my room was very clean, I also liked the morning coffee that was provided. I liked having a balcony and watching the outside activities. Staff are very good and attentive
For the money I really could not find anything that I didn't like. So this is not an American hotel don t be expecting that , I have travelled extensively thru Latin American and this was one of the better ones. The only con would be that their are no safes but I wasn't t too worried about that as the front desk is manned and you can only be buzzed in by the manager

The staff is very nice and helpful! We arrived in the middle of the night and the guy was waiting for us, we even had to call before to cross-check the address and it was really impressive that he was not sleeping. Air con makes a huge difference, since the city is very hot.
Unfortunately the street where the hotel is located is very noise in the morning, so it was impossible to sleep. The hotel itself is quite old and not well maintained. It definitely needs a renovation. There was no hot water at all. As a recommendation, it would be good to have one hair dryer at the reception for guests.
