Sauna and Hot Tub | Spacious Deck | Private Acres

Top rated by guests
Aerial view of the backyard. We have a 6-person Barrel Sauna, a 6-person Hot tub, an outdoor shower, a Weber grill, and a little bridge that leads to a hiking trail that's about a 5 to 8-minute walk through the woods.
This Chef's kitchen features a 5-burner Samsung Range with an Airfryer and Pot filler, a microwave convection oven combo, a Farmhouse sink, a dishwasher, and an extra large Island for prepping and dining.
Here's a view of the great room from the front hallway. We have a chef's kitchen, seating to accommodate six at the dining table, a cozy living room area, and large sliding glass doors and windows that face the private backyard.
The open floor plan allows for easy access to any kitchen utensil, appliance, or amenity you might need. If you know you will need to use something specific, like a Vitamix or Blender, just ask—chances are, we have it on hand!
The extra large island includes loads of prep space and seating for four.

About this cabin rental

Summary:

This luxuriously cozy cabin is a total escape — and it's been giving guests a full-body exhale since 2021. Picture a pet-friendly, 5-star-hotel-meets-mountain-lodge retreat for up to 6, tucked into private acres above Mason Lake, enough private land to actually forget your phone exists. 90 minutes from Seattle, SeaTac Int. Airport, & the Olympic Park entrance.

Enjoy a private 6-person Sauna & Hot Tub, stylish indoor and outdoor living and dining space, 4 comfy beds, luxurious linens, and pillow options,

a chef's kitchen that means it, a game room w/ping pong and darts

The Space:

The Hideaway is the kind of place where you walk in, drop your bags, and audibly exhale — guests tell us this literally happens. If you need a break and don't want to spend it wondering whether the host stocked real half-and-half or worrying the beds will be comfortable, The Hideaway is for you. We think about what you might need before you do, then make sure it's 5-star quality once it's there. The linens are hotel-grade. The hot tub is immaculate. If something's off, text us — we'll fix it fast, because we actually care whether your nervous system recovers on this trip.

The open floor plan means mornings with coffee and evenings with a movie both happen easily, without anyone tripping over anyone else. And when it's time to actually sleep, the bedrooms sit on opposite sides of the house, so nobody's night gets wrecked by someone else's 6 am alarm.

Three bedrooms, if you need them. The back bedroom's Brooklyn Bedding King is borderline marshmallow — the good kind of borderline. Prefer more structure under you? The front bedroom's Tuft & Needle Queen has you covered, and its Murphy bed (plush Siena memory foam) can be made up on request for a second sleeper in that room. There's also a third bedroom — a converted walk-in closet doing its very best, with a firm twin mattress for one more.

Two bathrooms, both stocked with handmade organic products from YB Urban?'s Aroma Bar — shampoo, conditioner, shower scrubs, steamers, the works — plus spa robes and slippers so you can commit fully to doing nothing. The main bath has a deep soaking tub and shower combo; the back bedroom's ensuite has a two-headed shower built for actual relaxation, not just getting clean.

The kitchen gets talked about a lot, and it earns it — a big island for gathering, a 5-element Samsung range, and every pot, pan, and sharp knife you'd want for a real meal. Coffee comes three ways (drip, Nespresso, French press) plus a grinder if you brought your own beans, and we leave you a complimentary breakfast — English muffins, nut butters, jam, eggs, coffee, juice — so day one doesn't require a grocery run. Want to go further? Ask about a charcuterie board, dessert tray, or a fully stocked fridge before you arrive.

Rainy PNW day? Sink into the Cuddler with a book, or put on Netflix, Paramount+, Prime, Hulu, or HBO Max and don't move. Feeling less horizontal? The garage game room has a JOOLA ping pong table, two Samsung TVs for simultaneous screen time, and a dartboard, with cards, puzzles, and board games in the hall closet for whoever loses the ping pong bracket.

Outside is where this place really shows off. Eat at the big table on the upper deck or the smaller bistro table below, then soak in the well-maintained hot tub or sweat it out in the 6-person barrel sauna — followed by an outdoor shower rinse (May through October) if you're brave. The Activities Lawn is open for yoga, a workout, or fetch with the dog. And when the sun goes down, gather at the wood fire pit over the ravine, or post up at one of two gas fire tables — s'mores strongly encouraged either way.

Guest Access:

Guests get the run of the house and the surrounding acreage. The Hideaway sits at the end of the driveway, backing up to Green Diamond Resource Company land — three short trails lead back there straight from the property. Google Maps and AllTrails both do a good job mapping where they go, if you want to actually get lost (safely).

There's plenty of parking, plus an RV hookup if you're rolling in an EV — just bring your own Portable Level 2 Charger. The outlet and extension cord live on the side of the house by the artificial turf.

The Neighborhood:

Mason Lake is the kind of lake you want to explore — no quiet hours, so it's fair game for boating all day, or take our kayaks and SUP board out and paddle back to total quiet in the woods. Alderbrook Resort is 20 minutes away for dining, golf, hiking, spa time, and Olympic Mountain views that don't quit. Belfair and Shelton are also about 20–25 minutes out if pizza or a shopping run is calling.

Getting Around:

Twanoh State Park (about 15 minutes away) has public boat launches on Hood Canal, a beach, a pescatarian bistro serving lunch and dinner, and more hiking. Belfair has two grocery stores, coffee huts, gas, fast food, bars, and the North Mason Chamber of Commerce. Shelton's got a Walmart, fast food, gas, bars, and antique stores. Hoodsport (about 35 minutes) has a couple of restaurants, wineries, a distillery, and Hood Canal water access — keep driving another 30 minutes, and the Olympic National Park Staircase Ranger Station has trails worth the trip.

EXTRAS!!

Celebrating something? Tell us — we can arrange an in-home massage for you.

Landing hungry? Let us know ahead of time. Your host is a certified WA state food handler and can put together a charcuterie board, fruit platter, or dessert tray before you walk in.

Don't want to wrestle the canoe onto your car? We'll shuttle it to the lake and back for you.

Ask us for the full extras list and pricing — there's more than what's listed here.

OTHER IMPORTANT THINGS TO NOTE

Bringing a pet or pets? Add them to your guest count and pay the pet fee — it's how we know to prep the space before and after your stay. You don't want to show up with an unannounced pet and get a bad review later, so just tell us.

The home sleeps six. The desk in the second bedroom hides a Murphy bed that opens to a queen. There's also a twin cot with a thin mattress, good for kids under 60 lbs, or pair its mattress with the leather sofa for an adult (comfier than the cot alone). Let us know if someone in your group is sleeping on the sofa, and we'll point you to the linens.

Our only beach swimming access is Hood Canal at Twanoh State Park (bring or buy a Discovery Pass to park). Or rent SUP boards up to pontoon boats at Alderbrook Resort and Spa.

The Hideaway doesn't include private lake access — Mason Lake is reachable via the public Dock/Boat Launch, great for bringing your own boat or using our canoe or kayaks, but not ideal for swimming thanks to boat traffic. For an actual swim, Lake Cushman has plenty of public access and gorgeous hiking to go with it.
