River Suite Studio with Lovely Garden - Walk to River

The property has a beautiful undercover alfresco dining setting looking out over bush land and the Swan river beyond. It’s an easy kilometre to shops and services, quiet and comfortable, with great facilities and supplies including washing machine and dryer, pod coffee maker, air fryer etc.

The property is very small but suitable for using as a base. We were unable to achieve an early checkin despite advising days in advance that our flight arrival was hours before standard checkin.

It has the best facilities and easy access from the main road. Quiet neighbourhood and very close to best surrounding especially if you like to jog in the morning or afternoon

We were given wrong PIN number for the key lock and resulted for us to call the help line twice since the first time no one picked up. Text message was also left unanswered.

A solid 8 to 8+ stay. Clean and modern and mostly a practical stay venue. We visit Perth approx every 18 months (and have done so for many years) as we have a family member who lives in the suburb; so we know the other apartment options in the area. We would consider staying here again; but it is increasingly an $$ choice in this location. The free / convenient car parking and the in unit washing machine and a separate drier are key criteria for us staying at Maylands. The foldable clothes drying rack is thus appreciated. It is in a quiet and safe area. The local Golf Club is walkable for a basic bistro evening meal. The nice towels were a plus too. Rare to have some pillows which are firm; which better suits us. The firm queen bed sized mattress was appreciated but hard to access power points for our two CPAP machines. The best stays factor this in. The wifi was eventually ok BUT the advertised network is not an actual option. Why? There was otherwise good coms prior to our stay from the rental business agent acting for the family who live upstairs. Frustrating then for a Genius Level 3 Booking.com user who stays approx 120 nights worldwide each year, and is aged 70, to then be separately hit with a $250 security deposit AND it then takes at least 72 hours for this cost to reappear back onto my credit card, once I have left. Hotels can do this on the same day. The stay was clean and well presented and was as advertised BUT it is a small / compact living space with little room then for two world travel suitcases. The best stays would supply at least one foldable suitcase stand. This would easily go into the walk in cupboard space. The huge outside patio is a plus BUT too many mozzies then for us even in the daytime. There are mozzi coils supplied out there BUT with no matches to light one. Why?

The host says that no cooking is allowed but they supply a large air fryer and baking paper and alfoil and cling wrap; so not sure what “no cooking” actually means to them? We had home delivered pizzas on 1 night of our 4 night stay so this very quickly started filling up the small outside bin that was accessible to us. There were poor confusing / inadequate instructions about dealing with waste. One written comment supplied was to try to take it all away with you; which is not helpful when you are paying near $250 / night. The owner has recycling bins for clean cardboard, plastic, aluminium and glass containers but this is several meters on the other side of a locked gate. There was probably a bin collection day half way thru our stay; but no info was supplied about what we could do with our waste items. We would prefer to recycle items. The shower space needs a shower curtain as water goes onto the toilet and floor too readily. The shower head is not user friendly. When the owners upstairs run hot water the flow of hot water downstairs when showering is greatly affected. Why is only 1 wine glass supplied? A security screen on the kitchen window would have allowed us to leave that open; to then shut the sliding patio door to keep out the noise of the weekend joggers and cyclists. The light tight blinds there are useful; but they do then block most air circulation. There is an air con but no ceiling fan. Can you see why not a 5 star stay? but with some changes; it easily could be.
