The Manageress Ells was amazing. Having recently recovered from a critical illness when She lost several stones in weight, she made us feel more than welcome, and was telling us how she was already turning the business around. Having only been there as joint manageress with her partner, her local regular customers confirmed this although the Brewery would only cover the costs of painting the walls and ceilings, telling her that She would have to do the woodwork and floor herself! When questioned she happily said Oh Well its better than nothing. The Girl is an inspirational and its a massive yes we would love to stay again when next in the area.

The Bird in Hand is a great little pub with recent new management. All the staff and regulars made me welcome.
The room was very comfortable with a fantastic view of the canal outside. A great night's sleep was had.
There was a good choice of drinks at the bar (I prefer ales, three of which were on tap with more to come from a local brewery I believe) and the atmoshpere was jolly.
Breakfast was excellent, cooked in front of me and a great way to start my day.
