If you love the outdoors, spending time on the water, building bonfires, watching sunsets, and prefer a simple, rustic cottage, then Ruthie's Cottage awaits you!
This cedar log cottage is the gem of the area. Nestled into Snug Harbor's quaint alcove, this is an outdoor lover's dream. Facing southwest, the cottage sits right on the bank of Spruce Creek, yet is private and secluded. Spend hours on the waterfront by day - swimming, kayaking, fishing - and enjoy bonfires and watching the magical sunsets on the dock by night. The property includes an 8' dock and float, a large deck, fire pit, kayaks, and a canoe.
The cottage is rustic with an open layout, designed so each room enjoys a waterfront view. The main floor has a peaked ceiling and an island kitchen fully equipped with all the cooking and spice necessities, plus New England favorites (lobster pot, oyster shuckers, shrimp peelers). Open to the kitchen is the main sitting room with a cozy Yodel Stove in the Fireplace. Off the kitchen is a sundeck, perfect for an afternoon picnic, or enjoying a starry night. The main floor also includes a large bedroom with a queen bed and an attached porch, a full bath, and a loft with a double bed.
A spacious, walk out studio located downstairs is outfitted with a queen bed, full bath, and compact kitchen with a sink, fridge, and microwave. It has a private entrance and a water view. The washer and dryer are located in an adjacent room on this floor.
Enjoy the seacoast adventures that surround Ruthie's Cottage. Take a short kayak ride to a local favorite, "tidal luge" and serene swimming hole. Hit Taylor's lobster pound, have a picnic on the dock and watch the sunset. Check out Fort McClary State Historic site, Chauncey creek, or spend an afternoon at the Kittery Point outlets - all just short rides away.

The house was great! It’s a quaint little cabin, well used space. They had a good amount of dishes to use. We weren’t aware that the basement had only an outdoor entrance with no indoor access, so we did choose to separate the adults to make sure the kids were good. With that said, the rooms and beds were great! We used the kayaks and canoes, as described in the listing, the water is a little advanced but the kids in the kayak navigated it easily. The cabin is close to lobster docks with quick access to highways. we would absolutely stay here again!

Great stay on the water! Loved the layout of the house, water views from every room. Everything was perfect and such a nice, quiet location. Really enjoyed sitting on the dock and just being able to relax, beautiful sunsets, too. Thank you for a nice week!

The property had access to the water. The view, especially from the dining room/kitchen area was phenomenal. My stress level went from high to non-existent. The property comes equipped with cookware and dinnerware, etc. TV program selections were numerous. I loved the patio. it was truly relaxing and I was able to read and just relax. Thank you for a wonderful experience!

The house is exactly as described and so very comfortable and cozy! It was the perfect set up for my entire family - my husband and I stayed in the main bedroom with the king size comfy bed, my teenage daughter loves the loft and the basement bedroom suite was the perfect space for my adult-ish (19) son. It was so nice not to have to pack linens and towels as they were provided. The kitchen was fully stocked with all your cooking/dining needs right down to some spices. The other bonus is the full use of the dock, canoes and kayaks…we found everything we were looking for in a our relaxing getaway here!!!
