Take deep breaths with coffee in hand and listen to the native birds who make their home around the property. A sun deck overlooks the backyard, which also invokes feelings of another era, when gardens were a sense of pride for homeowners. Meander through the well-kept yard, enjoying the vibrant colors of the native Florida plants. Grab a book and find a spot of shade under the 90-year-old camphor trees and laurel oaks. In the early evening hours, guests of both the cottage and the bungalow often gather on the deck, swapping stories of the day. There are many trendy places to eat within walking distance, and the Hillsborough River is only a four blocks away. ★★ 𝗔𝗖𝗖𝗘𝗦𝗦 ★★ ► You’ll have access to the entire bungalow and property. ► Guests are able to access all rooms of the bungalow as well as the backyard. ► Guests do n̲o̲t̲ ̲h̲a̲v̲e̲ ̲a̲c̲c̲e̲s̲s̲ to: → attic → cabinet in utility/laundry room ★★ 𝗬𝗔𝗥𝗗 𝗠𝗔𝗜𝗡𝗧𝗘𝗡𝗔𝗡𝗖𝗘 ★★ ► The entire property is surrounded by our National and Florida Wildlife Federation “Wildlife Habitat” landscaped garden. ► To keep the property in its pristine condition, r̲e̲g̲u̲l̲a̲r̲ ̲y̲a̲r̲d̲ ̲m̲a̲i̲n̲t̲e̲n̲a̲n̲c̲e̲ will be performed on the property during the day, including but not limited to: blowing, edging, weeding, trimming watering the plants. ► F̲r̲e̲q̲u̲e̲n̲c̲y̲ will depend on the season, weather and/or time of day, and typically occur between 8:00am and 8:00pm and may last anywhere from a few minutes to several hours. ★★ 𝗢𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗥 ★★ ► B̲u̲g̲s̲ ̲a̲n̲d̲ ̲i̲n̲s̲e̲c̲t̲s̲ (in particular palmetto bugs, cockroaches) are a fact of life in Florida, and we have no control over them above and beyond standard preventative measures and using an Ozone machine after every guest. By reserving this property, guests acknowledge the occasional presence of bugs in the home. ► This is an historic, well-loved and well-cared-for home that comes with its c̲h̲a̲r̲m̲i̲n̲g̲ ̲s̲e̲t̲ ̲o̲f̲ ̲i̲d̲i̲o̲s̲y̲n̲c̲r̲a̲s̲i̲e̲s̲ a̲n̲d̲ ̲i̲m̲p̲e̲r̲f̲e̲c̲t̲i̲o̲n̲s̲. For instance, the air conditioner, furnace, and water boiler will occasionally make some noise, the doors and walls have been painted a few times, and there may some gaps under the indoor doors. Thus, this may not be the best accommodation for folks looking for a 5* luxury-type of experience. ► There are several cameras on the property: 1 video doorbell each the bungalow's front & backdoor (to laundry room). Cottage & manager's office front doors each have a video doorbell. 2 cameras on home's side overlooking pathway by fence, & pine pathway on the other side. All cameras record sound & audio upon motion activation for 30 seconds. ► Erehwon Retreat is licensed under the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation/Division of Hotels and Restaurants and registered with the Florida Department of Revenue and City of Tampa Business Tax Division. ► We follow State Occupancy and City of Tampa regulations of no more than 2 persons per bedroom.

A fellow colleague and I were attending the American Association of School Librarians Conference at the Tampa Convention Center. We had an excellent stay. It was peaceful, quiet, and we enjoyed sitting out on the porch in the afternoons. The proximity to the convention center was great, and the location of the bungalow was perfect to enjoy all the many areas of Tampa (Seminole Heights, the Heights Marketplace, Ybor City, and downtown). The bungalow was as described and, I would definitely stay there again. Plenty of room and the beds were very comfortable. Check-in and checkout was easy and the amenities made our stay even more enjoyable. Judy was a pleasure to work with.

leased because it was advertised as a 3 bedroom, but was only 2 bedrooms.
You have to share the laundry room with others.

The bungalow proved itself a very suitable place to call home base over the course of 8 days when we traveled mostly to Clearwater and Tampa destinations. There was ample space and was better equipped than I was expecting considering this was our first VRBO rental experience. Overall, I would happily stay at this VRBO again in the future.

We had a super comfortable stay at this beautiful and roomy arts and crafts bungalow. A perfect landing ground for a month- long extended visit to Tampa.

One of the most special places we have had the opportunity to stay at on this planet. A cozy and comfortable heritage home that feels like a cottage in a spectacular neighborhood and five minutes from everything in a great city. Henry is one of the people who was born to host and loves to see people happy. We stayed a month and it was not long enough! Love this place!

This was an amazing experience to stay in such an authentic 20s bungalow. It was clean, comfortable and we slept fantastic in the best beds. We want to thank Frank for our wonderful stay!

Henry the owner/host was there to meet us and explain a few historical details of the home. Did not see him after this. Although he did send an email asking for us to leave the living room curtains open during the day so the plants would not die. The property online stated this was a 3 bedroom and it was not. The den did have a pull out sofa bed, though I would not list this as a 3 bedroom as it clearly was not. Everyday of our stay we would find spiders on the beds. Everyday. I had to kill 3 wasps while there. When leaving the property, it's literally a jungle that you have to maneuver just to get to your vehicle. I am not sure why it wasn't trimmed, cut mowed or something as guests were due to arrive. It made going out in the evening very uncomfortable not knowing if anything was going to jump out at you. The house should have been cleaned of cob webs before our arrival. The area however felt safe. But honestly I would not stay there again as for the money we paid, we should have been able to be relaxed and not worry about the amounts of spiders on the bed and all over the house. Do better.

My family and I had an amazing experience at this Tampa bungalow. The owner, Henry, was an amazing host. Thanks so much for everything you provided us during the week. Will definitely stay again.

We loved this beautiful bungalow. It is beautifully furnished and decorated with period pieces and artwork. The kitchen is well equipped and it was really nice that Henry, the host provided coffee, tea, milk, eggs orange juice and other items to enjoy. Beds in the two bedrooms were very comfortable. The only negative thing I would say is that the house should not be listed as a three bedroom, as the third bed is a sofa bed in the den. We enjoyed our stay and the lovely natural landscaping. There were many restaurants nearby and there is easy access to the interstate nearby. When we return to the Tampa area we would love to stay at Erehwon Retreat again.

My family and I came to Tampa for my moms birthday and wanted a nice house to stay in together. The Bungalow was great for us. It was clean and had everything that we needed. We appreciated that there were some groceries in the pantry and fridge already. It’s definitely an older home but with some updates that make it comfortable. We ended up spending a lot of time in downtown Tampa and it was easy to get on and off the highway from the house. I’d stay here again if I didn’t stay downtown. Henry was attentive and did a walk through for me at the beginning and has a book that gives you the history and details of the house and area. Overall good stay.

Loved the house and neighborhood. Spent meals on the deck with all the tropical greenery surrounding us. Also spent time relaxing on the large front porch. Henry was always there if we needed anything.

Great home in a really nice neighborhood. Just love all the arts and crafts style homes (many restored). Nice lush neighborhood environment with lots of live oaks covered in Spanish moss, palm trees and tropical vegetation everywhere. We enjoyed our month here and could easily see ourselves living there. The front porch and rear deck were perfect for enjoying the beautiful Florida weather. The location provided a great jumping off point for all kinds of exploring both within and well beyond Tampa Bay itself. Thanks again for the stay and for everything Henry. -Matt and Kim

The “stay” started with the meeting of the host! Such a local wealth of knowledge. Our host told of days gone by in the era of the home and things inside even, so intriguingly! His knowledge of the local area took us places we’d never seen otherwise!
The attention to comfort of his guests is so obvious from Pure Irish butter to 4 types of coffee, super comfy beds to porch swings and patios THIS place was a vacation for the senses as well! So cozy, clean and quaint. Just can’t say enough good things about Mr. Young and his place!

This place is a gem and a perfect representation of historic Tampa and Seminole Heights. Could not have been happier than we were with the house, and with Henry! What a pleasure!

Nice place to stay, in a great location. Only complaint about property is the louver windows. They do not close completely allowing insect to make their way in. Mainly wasps.

The property was perfect and exactly as described in the listing. It was well equipped with everything you could ask for and/or need while vacationing away from home. We stayed here while moving our daughter into college and absolutely loved the location. The neighborhood is quiet and literally only a short car ride from everything Tampa has to offer. Henry is absolutely delightful and the attention to detail and love he has for the property shows in every corner of the house. I would definitely recommend staying here and hope to come back to visit again soon!

This is a gorgeous property located in a tranquil neighborhood of beautiful craftsman style bungalows. This two bedroom, two bath home was perfect for our family as we moved our son into his freshman year at University of South Florida (USF). USF is a quick 10-12 minute drive up the highway. Instead of cramming ourselves into a standard hotel room with all of my sons college belongings, we were able to spread out in this beautiful home for the same price as a hotel room. Henry, the proprietor, does not miss a single detail relative to guest comfort. While the home was built in 1920 and retains that beautiful historic flair, underneath that is every modern convenience you could want, fast internet, plenty of outlets for charging devices etc. Henry also provides so many lovely touches like the quality bedding, terrific kitchen essentials plus some extra niceties like a coffee grinder and a french press. Henry also leaves staples for breakfast, eggs, english muffins, juice, milk and coffee so you do not have to run to the supermarket the minute you arrive. Henry leaves no stone unturned when it comes to Covid safety from the sterilizing key holder to the UV lights he utilizes in between guests. Henry himself is just the right mix of available but unobtrusive. Every need we had he attended to right away. There is a lovely front porch, a nice living room and dining room and a cute den for our family to spread out in and relax after a hot day of moving our son into USF. I only wish we had more time to talk with Henry as not only is he a very interesting fellow, he is a wealth of information about the area. Book this property with confidence!
