Dirty, dusty, uncomfortable, with poor service
Well, I actually have quite a bit to say here based on my experience staying in different places and different countries, but this is honestly the first time I’ve encountered something like this. For some people this might seem normal or even interesting, but for me it’s absolutely not the norm. So here it goes:
Finding the key was a whole quest. We were tired after the road, but fine — we figured it out.
Once we checked in, we realized the house was not what was advertised for a family of four. The listing showed a bunk bed, and our kids were really excited to sleep on it — but it turned out the bunk bed was actually in a different house next door on the same property.
Instead, there were two sleeping spots under the roof in a small attic. Sure, it looked cute and the kids liked it, but leaving them there overnight was absolutely impossible because of the steep ladder. God forbid a child wakes up at night to go to the bathroom — they would just fall straight down. Even during the day it was difficult to use that ladder, not to mention at night.
Then we started getting ready for bed and discovered there were no towels, no bedsheets, no duvet covers — nothing that should be considered a basic standard.
I called the managing company, and they basically told me off — politely, but still sent me away. They said we didn’t order towels and bed linen through their system, which comes by email with some unclear instructions on how to reserve and pay extra for them.
I find this completely unacceptable both from the service provider and, most importantly, from Booking.com. The provider is obligated to list all additional charges on the Booking page. Otherwise it’s simply misleading.
Think about it — why would I lie? I fully accepted the extra cost for electricity because it was clearly mentioned on Booking. But somehow they “forgot” to mention extra payment for towels and linen?
And I’m booking through Booking.com — I’m not obligated to search through external websites and hidden links. Otherwise what’s the point of using the platform?
The best part? When I asked if they could at least bring the bed linen the next day, they simply hung up on me. When I called again, another guy answered and repeated the same story about their procedures for the morning and said he wouldn’t even inform his colleagues about our request.
Seriously, guys? This is your level of service?
Would you like to be treated like this when you travel? When people treat you well, it feels nice, right? So why do you think it’s acceptable to behave like this with your guests?
If you want to feel like Willy Wonka visiting Mrs. Scrubitt from the movie “Wonka” (2023), where you have to pay for everything — welcome to this house!
And as for cleanliness — if you require guests to clean everything before they leave, then at least keep the place clean when they arrive.
The floors were dusty, the grill you mention in the listing looked like it had never been cleaned — absolutely disgusting. And I have photos to prove it.
