The owner is super friendly and helpful. The room itself is clean and comfortable. The bathroom is clean and well appointed. There's a convenience store over the road so you can stick up on basics. A very nice experience.
There were only two non-positives for me. The first was that booking.com advertised the property as 0.5 miles from Gatwick airport, and it said somewhere it's a 15 minute walk. The truth is that it's at least twice that, distance, over half an hour's walk through a labyrinth of small streets, and reachable more obviously than not via public transport. This means you have a 10-15 minute walk to the public transport point (Thameslink train station or a bus stop, depending), and a wait for the transport itself, assuming it's on time. So you'll need to budget more like 49-45 minutes to get to Gatwick, rather than thinking it's a quick toddle up the road.
The second non-positive was that there seemed to be three apartments available, one downstairs and two upstairs. The stairs were a little steep and quite narrow if you've got hefty luggage, so be aware you might want to request the downstairs flat.
These aren't really criticisms of the apartment itself, because that was great; or of the owner, who was also great. But please do be warned that it's not as convenient as you might imagine if you've got baggage and need to get to the airport without any panic.

Clean and well-located accommodation. Getting to Gatwick airport is a walk in the park (literally) thanks to the clear instructions left in the room by the host.

Lovely room
Bathroom was glorious
Walking there was terrifying
You walk through rape alley
So although walkable it is not advised
The taxi will fleece you

Very convenient clean and easy
Very noisy people staying in accommodation down stairs. Disturbed us in the early hours loud talking and laughter. Very inconsiderate.
