La Parenthèse est plus qu'un lodge : on s'y sent merveilleusement bien grâce à la bienveillance et aux attentions de Nathalie et Thierry ainsi que de leur équipe de choc ♡ souriants et aux petits soins ,.... quant à leur cuisine ! Variée et délicieuse digne d'un gastronomique.... Un bungalow confortable et accueillant, Thierry est le roi de l'organisation, il vous aide en deux coups de cuillère à pot tant il aime cette île et ses habitants . Une Parenthèse...de bonheur. A small, charming guesthouse right by the sea, with spectacular sunsets. Thierry initially gave us a warm welcome on arrival, with dinner at the shared table and plenty of useful tips about the island.
The website describes a "quiet village", but the guesthouse is right next to an informal bar that played loud music until late on two of our four evenings. It is also next to a construction site, where the workers had the radio on from around 6:30 a.m. The walls are very thin and there are gaps for ventilation, so every sound seemed to come from right next to our bed.
When we politely raised the noise, the answer was simply "we are in a village". On the third evening I was feeling unwell and needed an early night, so we asked whether we could move to one of the empty and more quietly located bungalows. The request was declined ("impossible") after our messages first went unanswered. For the remaining two days we felt uncomfortable as the host simply gave us the silent treatment whilst he was still greeting other clients that were in the same area and refused to be of any kind of assistance (we were not even allowed to leave our bags for one day following checkout). In the confined space of a small hotel, the unprofessional treatment of guests made our stay uncomfortable.
