This is the perfect place to stay if you want to explore Panglao island but don’t want to stay in the busy beach areas around Alona and Dumaluon. This is a very classy hotel which is owned by a very nice guy from Switzerland which says it all. This place is like a fine Swiss watch. The rooms are very spacious and beautifully fitted out. The staff are brilliant, the food is delicious, and the pool is lovely and clean. Also, they have live music on a Saturday night which is great. I really can’t praise The Mayana Resort enough. We will definitely be staying here when we visit Bohol in future. A tip for anyone staying here… Try the Ostrich burgers and steaks. They’re amazing!
It’s very hard to find anything negative to say about The Mayana Resort. But there was one small thing that caused me a bit of an issue. The steps leading down into the pool are pebble-dashed with quite sharp stones rather than the smooth rounded pebbles in the pool surround. I found this uncomfortable to walk on and thought it could be a problem for children using the pool. But like I say, it’s only a small detail.

The resort is really lovely, with lots of greenery, slightly away from the main road and therefore very quiet. The room was very spacious and nicely furnished.
Unfortunately, something happened on our vacation that I had never experienced before. After we had been in the pool, our skin, swimwear, and my naturally blonde hair had turned green. Apparently, this is due to copper in the pool water (confirmed by the owner). The staff were very kind and helpful and tried everything they could to find a solution for the swimwear and my hair. The owner, on the other hand, was elusive, rarely willing to talk, and did not show up for agreed meetings. Unfortunately, no solution was found to accommodate us. Of course, we could no longer use the pool for the rest of our vacation, and I also had to pay for an expensive visit to the hairdresser when I got home. I am very disappointed with the owner's unprofessionalism and how the situation was handled
