Wake to the sun rising over distant mountains and walk down to the river on our rustic trail to see nearby ancient Indian ruins, nesting eagles, and playful river otters. This modern studio apartment features a well-appointed kitchen, a spa-inspired bathroom with European fixtures, heated concrete floors, expansive views from the shared portico, a King bed with fine linens and a sitting area with a leather sofa — perfect for curling up with a book or watching a movie on the 55-inch 4K Roku TV. Penumbra is a five-suite boutique vacation rental retreat in Clarkdale, Arizona, near many popular destinations including Sedona, Jerome, Camp Verde, and Cottonwood. Take advantage of our stunning location to rent the entire property for a memorable friends-and-family vacation, host a special event, or hold a productive workshop or retreat in serene surroundings. Penumbra is a short two-minute drive to the charming boutiques and restaurants of Old Town Cottonwood. The popular historic mining town of Jerome is seven miles up the mountain, while the spectacular red rocks of Sedona are less than thirty minutes away. Many guests book Penumbra as a home base to explore the local award-winning wineries and wine tasting rooms that are part of the Verde Valley Wine Trail. We are also surrounded by many beautiful local hiking trails and are right above the river which can be accessed via our rustic hiking trail. Penumbra has an on-site gravel parking lot with free parking. A car is recommended to explore the area. No smoking, vaping, drugs or weapons are allowed anywhere on the property, inside or outside. No drugs, weapons, fighting, parties, vaping, smoking (including cannabis), burning incense or use of essential oils, open flames, loud noises, illegal activities, or disruptive actions are allowed anywhere on the property. Any deliberate disruption, illegal activity, abusive behavior or tampering with provided services, spaces, property or items on the property can be cause for cancellation of your reservation with no refund and/or fees to be assessed. If we receive a complaint regarding a violation of any of these rules from a Penumbra guest or from anyone else, we reserve the right to cancel your reservation immediately without refund. If you have a complaint about any aspect of the amenities, cleanliness, or overall condition, please reach out to us within the first 2 hours of check-in. Upon notifying us of your complaint, you authorize us to enter the property and remedy the problem to the standards you require or we may cancel your reservation. No refunds will be given for unreported issues. If staying with a service animal we require the following: 1. Owners must keep all dogs on leash at all times when outside the suite. 2. Dogs are not allowed on the furniture or beds. 3. Dogs are not allowed to be left alone in the suite at any time. 4. Owners must clean up after their dogs.
