I absolutely loved my stay at Hotel Teresa! Many hotels in the area were rather over priced, lacking character and verging on pretentious but hotel Teresa was rustic, authentic and simple in the best possible way! I had the option of two rooms- one of which had a balcony and was facing the street, the other was on the other side and facing the courtyard. I was advised that the balcony room might be noisy because it was street facing but I was eager to have a balcony so opted for that room- and it was completely peaceful! I slept very well and enjoyed my stay undisturbed! The room was incredibly spacious and breezy despite the high temperatures, equipped with air conditioning and a powerful fan which definitely did the job! My room was also equipped with a fridge which was brilliant. Hotel Teresa is peaceful and calm and I was made to feel right at home. The owners were absolutely wonderful and so hospitable. Omar spoke brilliant English having spent many years in the UK so we were able to have lovely conversation. Additionally, on checking out I got my things together and clambered down the stairs in a hurry to avoid overstaying my welcome but Omar insisted I make use of the room until I have to leave Zipolote despite the check out time of midday which was amazing and made a world of difference to my last day.
The only issue I had was the en suite bathroom- on arrival one of the taps didn’t work and the shower head felt very loose but before I even had the chance to mention this, when I returned to my room both had been replaced! Unfortunately I had some issues with the toilet flush but don’t hesitate to ask for assistance as this is a common issue in Mexico and easily resolved!

The Lady operating the place was great, the location was fantastic. It was very inexpensive to stay there. The room was practical. It had shelving and ledges and hooks. A good little fan. After I got used to it’s ugly appearance initially and found it clean, I was ok. If the sheets were thicker and crisper looking and maybe colourful and they replaced the shower head and put up a nice shower curtain the room would appear much better. Happier.
The room at first was a shock, a bit like a poor, very small cell of a room. Everything looked so old. The sheets were ugly but clean. The shower head was so poor you could not wash shampoo out of your hair so I didn’t even try. But the room as I said was practical and after one night I got used to the ugly little room and even had some fondness toward it.
