We recently stayed at the Caledon Hotel & Spa for two nights and overall had a pleasant experience, with the hot springs definitely being the highlight of our stay.
The reception staff were fantastic throughout our stay — always friendly, welcoming, accommodating and willing to assist. When we arrived, we were initially allocated a room quite a long way down the hallway from reception and the restaurants. We requested to be moved closer to reception, and our request was fulfilled immediately, which we really appreciated. We soon realised, however, why we had originally been placed so far away! Some guests can be rather noisy when returning to their rooms late at night, although this is, of course, no fault of the hotel.
The room itself was lovely and comfortable, but a few small details were missing. There was no iron or ironing board, no extra blanket, and although there was a tea and coffee-making facility, there were no teaspoons. Our towels were changed the following morning, but unfortunately the replacement towels were damp, which was disappointing.
One thing we wish we had known before booking was that the hot springs are closed on Mondays. Fortunately, the Victorian Bath was still open, and we thoroughly enjoyed it — it was fantastic and certainly helped make up for some of the other shortcomings.
The breakfast was lovely and tasty, and we really enjoyed it. Unfortunately, our experience at the Black Sheep Restaurant was less impressive. The steak we ordered was tough and, in our opinion, definitely not worth the price. We expected better, particularly from a restaurant of this standard.
That said, the hot springs are a wonderful attraction and, for us, were the highlight of the stay. The fantastic reception staff also made a real difference to our experience. Their friendly and accommodating attitude was greatly appreciated.

The staff were very friendly and the breakfast was a fantastic spread, very good. The hotel and spa facilities were very clean
The hotel rooms are a bit dated and tired, especially the bathrooms and not enough plug points in the room. The bar fridge also did not work.
