Nice stay, cheaper than Lisboa

A nice chill place. Quite cheap since it's in between Lisbon and quite expensive Cascais and yet, pretty close to train station which makes it easily accessible. It's about 5 min walk from the beach and to a big shopping mall.

There was a situation with a guest who was a bit mentally unstable, and the hostel staff did not handle it all that well. They are mostly volunteers and they were off duty that late at night, and yet, I think they made it worse than it could have been. The owner did give my roommates some refund for such an unpleasant night, which was nice of him. Just mind, that in the case of weird guests the volunteers and young staff would not be able to do much and you gotta call the owner (or the police) directly.

Loved the atmosphere and the people who work there! Will definitely come back for another stay and book surfing lessons

Loved the huge balcony but there was no seating, suggestion: put some chairs or a bench out there, also some lights by the beds would be a big plus.

NEVER AGAIN

Volunteer staff is friendly and tried to make up for the general mess

Most of issue result of a lack of management, there is no will from owner to address problems or just try to offer a good stay - Owner use the place for personnal purpose and isn't invested in daily management, solving issue etc - multiple problems with guests, management don't handle guests with problem (over 8people have checked out and cancelled because of one problematic guest. the management did not handle nor refund) - doesn't feel safe neither for belongings and people - multiple personal belongings thrown away by personal or stolen

Laughing with friends, partying, visiting Lisbon, and surfing!

My friend and I had the best trip we ever had, for real. Everybody was so kind and welcoming to us. The manager Roger and Rubens are the best. People from everywhere are coming here and that’s amazing, you can learn a lot of things. Oh and there’s Chico, the cutest dog in the world.

More fantastic than expected

I was worried that the location would be far, but the metro was close by and I could come to the center of Lisbon in 30 minutes. there is Unbelievably, you can get there in 5 minutes on foot. The interior facilities are also neat and convenient, and the staff help you use it comfortably, whether it's in the kitchen or anywhere. The staff are all kind and I want to commend them all. It is more comfortable and family-friendly than any other hostel. Everything has a quality that doesn't match this price. I highly recommend coming here rather than wasting a lot of money on poor lodging in a cramped central location.

There were two decorations of the Rising Sun Flag, a symbol of Japanese militarism during World War II. I know that people in many countries know this pattern only for its decorative meaning, so they have no ill intentions. However, I would like to tell you that it has a negative meaning to the people of countries that were invaded by Japan during World War II.

Good

At check in, I was met by Maria, a friendly staff member. She showed me around, and gave me a bed to my liking. I was surprised on how clean the place was. The owner Jose could show up some mornings and give some trip ideas. The hospitality of the staff members is worth mentioning. Roger, Alice, Vera and Yres were all friendly, helpful and kept the house in shape. The place had a friendly dog, Chico, which was quite unique. All in all, the team I met was great and kept the place running.

Staff fantastic and very kind and helpful!

The bathrooms were falling apart! Not comfortable at all! Bathtub couldn't be used, no where to hang towel or clothing. Property should be better maintained.

Excelent experience into a confortable and clean place with helpful employess

Great localization, close from the beach, within a privilege area, with a lot of space. Employees helpful and friendly. It is important highlighted the cleanliness of bathrooms and shared areas.

Disappointing

Great location, reception were lovely.

Bedroom and bathroom were very dated and battered and didn't feel totally clean to me. I think little updates would really make a different like new pillows and a paint job on the walls I've stayed in a lot of hostel but felt this one wasn't the cleanest.

It was a pleasant stay in a reasonable location at an appropriate price.

The Hostel was quite close to the beach but not so on top of it as to be too noisy from external influences. It was a 5 minute walk to the local central shopping area and restaurants. Carcavelos itself is on the main line railway to Lisbon and CaisCais so it is pretty accessible. The rooms were clean without being cleanly and could have had a little bit of updating. My private room was very large considering. Ultimately it is still a Hostel and you should manage your expectations accordingly. The staff were very young, friendly and competent.

I rented the Private room in the Hostel. It's not specific if there is a private bathroom but I can say there is NOT a private bathroom for just the private room. You have to share the three in the property with everyone else. Sadly the showers are built into each bathroom so you may be waiting a while for one to become available.

very near the beach & right next to the surf school. the staff members where fantastic - very friendly and took me out to Lisbon. Everyone in the hostel was friendly !!
