This oversized beachfront penthouse condo features a large screened-in lanai directly overlooking the gorgeous white-sandy beach and aquamarine Caribbean Sea. Recent renovation throughout features an open-concept kitchen, living and dining room, designer bathroom with rain showerhead, new light fixtures, and complimentary wifi & TV for your evening streaming or computer pleasure. Kick back "island style" in a luxurious setting as you leave behind the crowds, traffic and hustle & bustle of Seven Mile Beach. The Retreat is located at Rum Point in the heart of Cayman Kai, on the Northside of the island. There are only 23 units on 7 acres of beachfront property with 1300 feet of powder-sugar white sandy beach. The water is a shallow aquamarine-blue dream. The beach has private lounge chairs, lots of vegetation, shade trees (Palm & Casuarina), and wildlife, making it a nature lover's paradise. The waters are part of a nationally protected marine park so you will find lots of fish, coral and turtles to befriend during your daily snorkels. Because of its location (on a point), not only do you have a gentle breeze throughout the day to keep you comfortable, but you can view BOTH the sunrise on the north facing beach in the mornings AND the gorgeous sunset on the western facing beach in the evenings between Spring and Fall Equinoxes. How romantic is that? “Vacay Kai” is a large upscale 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom condominium with more than 1,039sf of AC/heated living space. The spacious bedroom offers a king-sized bed and the living room offers a queen-sized sleeper sofa. The kitchen boasts recently renovated beach shaker white cabinets, sink, faucet and stardust quartzite countertops. It is fully equipped with a full-sized refrigerator with icemaker, microwave, stove, oven, dishwasher & disposal. Moreover, it is stocked with cookware, small appliances, dishes, plates, and silverware to cook your favorite gourmet meals. Enjoy the view of the Caribbean Sea as you prep your breakfasts and lunches. Better yet, enjoy your meal at the table on the screened lanai, then relax afterwards (or nap!) with your favorite book on one of the lounge chairs. This condo is ideally situated for a couple or small young family. If you’d like to take it easy, a quick 2 minute walk next door will bring you to Rum Point Club where you can grab a bite to eat and a cool drink to sip while enjoying the day, especially the breathtaking sunsets. You can also easily catch an excursion (Stingray City, snorkeling boat trip, Coral Gardens and/or Barrier Reefs, romantic sunset sail, etc) right from the pier at Rum Point Club. If you’re a dive enthusiast, the famous North Shore/North Wall offers some of the finest dive sites in the world. There are several dive shops in the area with whom you can set up your dives. Even daily, if you’re seeking a dive vacation! A short drive away is Starfish Beach where starfishes are easily found and the Cayman Crystal Caves where you can explore a tropical forest and amazing underground caverns. In the evening, you may choose to join the kayak excursion on the bioluminescent bay across the street (meet-up for this excursion is at Rum Point Club parking lot), where the water glows with each paddle or movement. There are delightful restaurants as well as a small grocery store nearby (listed in your welcome package). Or, if you’d like to head to the shopping and fine dining at Camana Bay/7 Mile Beach area, a 20 minute ferry can be caught down a short drive down the street which will take you to Camana Bay! For the more active guests, you can enjoy the Retreat’s private pool, gym, tennis court, and ample PRIVATE parking lot. Each building also offers a charcoal grill for your barbecuing pleasure. For a simple night in, there are DVDs, games and books for your enjoyment. The Retreat and our condo have been inspected and approved by the Cayman Islands Department of Tourism. We love this property! We stayed in this same area in 2020, and believe it to be the best area on the island. The Retreat is easy to get to, parking is a breeze, the view is fantastic. The one bedroom was perfect for us. Absolutely loved the ability to walk right out to the beach. Also a great assortment of snorkel gear was a super amenity. Location, location, location! The Retreat at Rum Point is perfect. Beautiful beaches, wonderful snorkeling, gorgeous sunsets, and (quite literally) next door to drinking and dining opportunities. The condo was well-appointed, very comfortable and had everything (including the view!) one would need for a wonderful stay. We can't wait to go back.

We had a nice view of the water; the unit was the perfect size for us, with a large bedroom so that it felt very spacious. Plenty of towels. We made use of the snorkeling gear. We loved staying at Rum Point, it was so calm and so much to do. We ate at Rum Point Club our first night and it was very good. The owners were very responsive and excellent recommendations on things to do and where to eat. We’d stay here again!

My wife and I (60 years old) loved this third-floor condo and its location. It's about a 45-minute drive from the airport and Georgetown which we found to be over-crowded. This condo had a beautiful beach and blue waters. And there were 2-3 great restaurants nearby. If we make it to GC again, we'll stay at this condo. And communication with the owner was great. Thank you.

Nice, relaxing location, Great secluded beaches right there, plus great snorkeling .The ability to see clear views of the sunrise and sunset from the beach was amazing. Lots of information for restaurants and things to do was provided ahead of time by the host, which gives you enough time to check things out prior to getting there. It's an easy drive from the airport, especially considering switching to driving on the left side was a bit intimidating.

This trip was simply amazing! Mary is absolutely a wonderful host. She was very responsive and helpful. Her condo was very clean, well kept, and quiet. In fact, so quiet most days we felt like we were on a private island. Snorkeling at the point was amazing. We did have to drive to 7-mile/West Bay for some of our excursions, which was to be expected. The drive was not bad, but had to plan ahead for it. Some places were 30-50 minutes away. We did not mind that, we enjoyed being on the remote side of the island. There was still plenty to do and eat. Every morning we would snorkel at the point where we saw so much life at the marine park, a nurse shark multiple times, turtles, a ton of different fish, a lionfish, 6+ foot stingray. It was amazing. Starfish point was a short 3 minute drive, which was also very remote. Rum Point Restaurant is open now, and although a bit pricey, their Rum Slides ($14 CI) are to die for. Seriously the best drink on the island. It is only a 30 second walk there from the condo. They also have a cute little gift shop next door. Over the edge was one of my favorite meals and chocolate cake on the island. Must do excursions- horseback riding in West Bay with Nikki. Stingray city, although a bit intimidating at first, I would have been seriously sad if I missed out on this awesome experience. We used Red Sail Sports Catamaran which picked us up right on Rum Point Pier. Swimming with the dolphins was a great experience at Dolphin Discovery in West Bay.

Week in Grand Cayman couldn’t have been better. Mostly due to Mary and Vacay Kai. Rum Point is beautiful and has great snorkeling. We came in Mid Sept which was the off season so many things were closed but we had peace and quiet which is what we came for. Restaurants on both sides of the complex were open and both were very good. The view from the screened in lanai was perfect. Plenty of room in this nicely appointed condo. We snorkeled everyday on different parts of the island and found Rum Point was among the best. We used the pool, gym and tennis court on property. We cooked many meals in the condo and had everything we needed. Mary had great recommendations for everything. Make sure you book the 2 hour massage from Anytime Wellness LTD. Very affordable. We will be back to Grand Cayman and will definitely stay here again. It was fabulous!

Vacay Kai is a spacious 1bd-1ba apartment on the 3rd floor of a condo complex. Standing in the kitchen, you can look over the living room and the screened porch, and have a good view of the ocean. The bedroom has a comfortable king size bed, and plenty of storage space for all your belongings. The whole apartment is very clean. The kitchen is well stocked with all the essentials. The shower has good water pressure, and plenty of hot water. Both the washer and the dryer work very well. The host is very responsive and provides good recommendations. Rum Point is a good location if you want peace and quiet. The beaches are only steps away, and not crowded (at least in June). And it is a great place to watch the sunset. Currently, Rum Point Club is still under construction. So the restaurant there is not open. But the beach bar and a food truck are serving visitors during the day. About 5 minutes down the street, there is a great restaurant called Kaibo right on the beach. The food and drinks are delicious, and the beach vibe is very relaxing. Another 5 minutes further is Starfish Point, which is a popular beach, because many boats take visitors there from the west side. Driving from Rum Point to the Seven-Mile-Beach area can take between 45min and 1hr depending on traffic. The roads are smooth, and street lights are everywhere. It is very easy compared to other Caribbean islands. Overall, I really enjoyed staying in Vacay Kai. Thank you, Mary, for hosting us!

Location: check Comort: check Cleanliness: check Customer service: check This place has it all! The complex is nice and the unit is superb with a lovely view. We had a fantastic stay in Mary’s condo. It was very clean and comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked, there are plenty of towels, and the bathing suit drying rack on the patio is very useful. There is amazing snorkelling just steps outside the condo. The small private beach is the true definition of serenity. While we were there, there were just enough people around to not feel isolated but few enough that it felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. The water off the beach is very shallow. The snorkeling truly can’t be beat. Just swim from shore to where all the snorkel tour boats go! Also, the mudslides next door at Rum Point beach bar are delicious.
