There is extremely limited parking. Double yellow bands on all roads. You can park in a public car park if you pay £40 for 4 nights. WiFi working intermittently affecting the TV and phone connection to Internet.

We recently stayed at Castle Cottage in Carisbrooke High Street near Newport. The cottage was extremely well equipped. Check in was very easy. We had a comfortable stay. We were able to park our car across the road in the pub due to a very nice landlord.
The only thing we didn’t like was that the cottage was situated on a busy road. Also my partner was 6 ft 4 so he had to go upstairs on his hands and knees as ceilings were so low. Also the back garden had a massive slope and our dog found it hard to climb the steps.

There were more utilities available than I had expected. There was tea and coffee available plus other drinks. The location was quite pretty and the garden seemed cosy. Everything worked well and I had no problem using all that was available. There was a useful list of things I needed to follow together with maps and other items useful for my stay. The bus route was helpful with a stop outside the door on the opposite side of the road. Lovely to see the castle above the town from the front door.
The traffic was sometimes noisy. Unfortunately the tractors were revving up to get up the hill. The very first day seemed like a race track! I appreciate that this was only an unusual time. The cottage had no front garden which meant people just walked passed the front window (this was a new experience for me). Even though I am very short, the lower doors and stairwell proved a little of a burden (another new experience).

Location was very convenient for three bus routes (bus stops for each close by), well-stocked Co-op a short walk away, Waverley pub across the road with roasts on Wed eve, open mic night Mon, folk night Wed (not sure if these were weekly events). The island has a good bus network to visit all the places of interest. Newport centre is only about 15-20mins away on foot through the church graveyard and then on back streets so a pleasant walk instead of using the bus. The castle is also in walking distance (and can be seen from the bedroom window) although you could catch the bus for a couple of stops to get closer. Recommend that you buy the A-Z map of the island that has all the numbered footpaths on it - so useful.
The cottage was comfy with heating, hot water plus instant heat over the bath shower. Comfy bed. The kitchen was compact but had more than we needed - microwave, toaster, coffee machine (plus some pods), air fryer, proper oven with grill, hob, kettle, radio. There were only two small saucepans so some might prefer another bigger one, as mentioned by another reviewer, but it wasn't an issue.
There's a little patio with table and chairs to use in good weather.
Well stocked with cleaning materials, loo paper, and handwash.
The cottage is on a road that's busy twice a day, and single glazing means the traffic can be loud but there was hardly any overnight so I didn't need the ear plugs that I took just in case. If you're used to quietness then be aware.
In summer the south-facing bedroom might become hot as opening the window would let in noise and traffic fumes. However there was a fan provided.
An all-electric cottage but no timers on the immersion tank or central heating so you do have to remember to switch things off when not needed to help the owner's bills! Not a dislike as such; more a problem for the owner.
