Our family had a wonderful stay at Ilala House. We were warmly welcomed by Jane, who took the time to give us a detailed tour of the property, making us feel at home from the moment we arrived. Gideon was also exceptional—he helped with our luggage, looked after the property very well, and was always quick to open the gate whenever we came in or out. He even made sure our car was kept clean throughout our stay, which was a thoughtful touch.
The house itself is beautiful, spacious, spotless, and fully equipped with almost everything you could need, from the kitchen appliances to the comfortable furnishings. The bedrooms and bathrooms were exceptionally clean, and we were pleasantly surprised to find toys for our children, which kept them entertained and made the stay even more enjoyable.
One of the things we loved most was how peaceful the property is. It is located in a very quiet area with no noise, making it perfect for relaxing after a long day. Waking up to the beautiful views of the surrounding hills every morning was simply amazing.
The location is also excellent, especially if you’re planning to visit Tsavo East National Park. The gate is only about a 10-minute drive away, making early morning game drives very convenient.
Jane is an outstanding host. She is incredibly organized and has a complete guide to everything you can do in Voi, whether you need a safari, a tour guide, restaurant recommendations, or any other activity. She also introduced us to Boni, who delivers groceries and other essentials from town within a very short time. That service was incredibly convenient and made our stay even more comfortable.
Overall, we truly felt at home and would gladly stay here again
Honestly, there was very little to fault, but I have a few suggestions that could make an already excellent property even better.
Adding handheld bidet (Arabic) showers in the bathrooms would be a great improvement, especially for Muslim guests and many international travellers who prefer them. It would make the property even more appealing to a wider range of visitors.
A washing machine (or a washer and dryer) would also be a valuable addition, particularly for families or guests staying for several days.
Lastly, the property has a large outdoor area, and I think installing a small swing set or children’s play area would be fantastic. We travelled with our two daughters, and they loved playing outside. A few swings would make the property even more family-friendly and would definitely be a feature that attracts more guests.
Other than these suggestions, we genuinely found the property to be excellent

Its clean, good ac, excellent host who helped us with our last minute booking, secure and well equipped and spacious.
