Friendly helpful and knowledgeable staff, lovely building, room clean and comfortable-loved the direct access to the balcony.
A little bit of Friday pub noise on the night of our stay, but nothing too raucous (and part of the small town charm).

Wonderful historic building with a wonderful revival story. We enjoyed the bar, the pool table, the restaurant and the accommodation itself. The room was well insulated sound-wise from the punters downstairs despite being a Saturday night. Its proximity to the majestic balcony was appreciated. The staff on hand were friendly and informative. The Royal is amazing as a base for exploring Lake Tyrrell and then heading out in the morning.
Only really minor things. Because we were a 4 person family in a single-room family room and the facilities were communal, getting changed involved some logistics. Also, the floorboards were creaky which was fine during the day, but could wake light sleepers if someone needed the toilet at night.

Great location
The bathroom and toilet are shared, and the floorboards in the bedroom make creaking noises with every step.
