Awful accomodation

Nothing

It wasn't clean, there were blankets, heating, soaps or anything in the bathroom and the smell was really bad. Took the owner 30 minutes to provide us a key while we waited in the rain!

Worst place ever

Nothing.

No Duvet covers and was told they were fresh and unused when asking about it, yet there was blood on the covers... The bed was completely broken. Moved to a different room where it looked and smelt like someone had just left and the sheets were also dirty, still with no covers.. The sink was leaking into a bucket. The shower had the previous stay shower soap bubbles in it and hadn't been washed down. The cupboard was broken in room one. In room 2, there was someone stuff in the bathroom, and the host tried to hide it and put it in her pocket as if to pretend no one had been living there. The drawers had collapsed in on them selves, completely broken. We DID NOT stay here. We spent 30 minutes in the establishment, and after being lied to several times, we decided to leave and pay an extremely high price for a fantasticly lovely AirB&B in town.

Musty smell, uncomfortable mattress and no communication with the owners

It has a big store near, where you can get whatever you want. Also it has a bus stop to either the University of Essex or Colchester’s center just outside

The room was always humid and smelled musty, even after opening the windows. The mattress is really thin and uncomfortable. Can’t contact anyone. I never got the WiFi credentials, I tried asking for them on the Booking Platform, I also tried calling the number they provide and never got an answer.

Disappointing facilities.

The other family sharing our apartment were nice and helpful but they were not the hosts. Didn't see anyone else.

I booked the entire apartment so my family should have had the place to ourselves , so not sharing with anyone else. One bedroom door did not shut securely. The fridge didn't get cold enough. No cutlery, crockery or kitchen equipment available. Single duvets on double beds. 2 bedrooms facing the street had no privacy due to curtains too short for windows.

Unclean and disorganised

It was cheaper than a lot of the other accommodation in Colchester. It was good that each room was ensuite with a shower.

The room was very unkempt with an empty Pepsi can and a belt left on the windowsill and a pair of underwear left in the wardrobe. The beds were unmade, the sheets were dirty and the duvet had no duvet covers. We agreed an arrival time of between 13:00 to 14:00 with our host but we had to wait to 14:26 until we were let in. The host was very difficult to contact during this time - not responding to texts and only answering the phone at 13:45. Our booking confirmation said we had booked "3 adults - 1 night, 1 apartment" and "The apartment has 6 bedrooms, 6 bathrooms and a kitchen. The apartment's kitchen is available for cooking and storing food. The apartment features a washing machine. The unit has 6 beds.". Despite this, the host only gave us two rooms and claimed that booking.com had made a mistake.

A reasonable property but improperly advertised.

The rooms are beautifully painted, all with ensuite. There is a good bus connection (s4) into Colchester Town and a Tesco Metro within very short walking distance. The family that opened up and handed over the keys were kind, friendly and very helpful.

Wite was not correctly advertised. The website stated: Entire apartment with 6 ensuite bedrooms. Instead, Wite is sharehouse accomodation; and the price listed is per room. On the day of our arrival, the host attempted to charge us double what we had already paid to cover the two rooms. Furthermore, the website should have stated that bedding (ie. Duvet covers) should be brought by the tenant.

A nice accommodation with amenities on the door step.

There was a misunderstanding between the owner and the bookings.com company as the advertisement showed price for the entire apartment rather than rooms which the host explained. Host happily gave us extra rooms to accommodate free of charge. The rooms were of a high standard and all had their own en-suite.

When we arrived, the rooms did not even have beds in them. The Owner did not answer his phone (still hasn’t). I had to look for new accomodation at night, with two kids.
