A lovely castle in a tranquil spot

We were looking for one night near Skibbereen Heritage Centre to find out more about my family history. This hotel was 4 miles away so it suited our purposes. We had no idea, though, how wow it was when we booked it and wished we could have stayed longer - however, our schedule didn't allow for it. A really beautiful hotel with lovely well-maintained grounds. We also had a seaview from our room. The breakfast was really special too. With the Mary Ann gastro pub's tasty evening meals just 2 minutes away what more could you want? Can't recommend it enough.

What a vibe

Everything !!! Fabulous stay, our 2nd time and everything was amazing! Lovely walks & scenery ! Breakfast was just delicious! Big shout out to Sharon and her team, can't wait to revisit 🥰

A dream come true location and I wish we could have spent much more time there!

We liked everything! The property is exceptionally beautiful, the setting is gorgeous, the castle itself is well maintained and comfortable, our room was very special and well stocked, breakfast was delicious and the staff was wonderful. The proprietor helped us arrange a car to the next town and helped up find the right place to store our bags while we spent the afternoon there, before we left for the airport. She was also extremely responsive to questions before we arrived. I can't say enough good things!

Awesome weekend getaway.

We were upgraded to a room with a balcony and it was utterly amazing.

Water pressure a little weak but nothing serious.

The staff were super in welcoming us and in providing us with a lovely breakfast.

However, the owner's style of interacting with us left a lot to be desired. He was not very friendly or courteous. Unfortunately, this left a sour taste in our mouths.

A very unique experience to stay at a beautiful property in a tiny village.

This is a unique property and our large room "The Archbishop" had a beautiful view of the harbor. Breakfast was great and served in a beautiful room. Special property, friendly hostess.

No elevator, have to carry luggage up 3 flights. This property is in a tiny village, off the beaten path. There is one spot for dinner, a short walk up the road. There are no local pubs, etc and you definitely need a car. Just know in advance, BUT it is also part of the charm!

Once in a lifetime experience

Absolute once-in-a-lifetime experience. The castle itself is gorgeous, filled with beautiful art and artifacts. The hosts were incredibly welcoming and we had great chats with Sharon. The room itself was huge and spotless, and facilities are top notch. Breakfast was also to die for. The surrounding grounds are stunning and we enjoyed a two-hour stroll around them after check out. Had we known all this we would have booked for more than just one night. Will have to come back.

We felt like real royals in this castle

Staying in this castle was a fantastic experience for us. The room was a good size and the host was very welcoming. Breakfast was very delicious and plenty. Being able to enjoy and explore the castle and its grounds was one of our highlights.

It's a great place to experience what it's like to sleep in a real castle, just know that the rooms are of many different categories ranging from simple to extraordinary. I recommend checking their website to prepare what to expect.

Wonderful castle and grounds with view overlooking the water with incredible service.

Location and the grounds were fantastic. We felt welcome by the owners as they went above and beyond.

The location is beautiful but a long drive on back roads to get there.

A perfect weekend break location.

We spent two nights at the castle and really enjoyed ourselves. We were able to come and go without feeling like we were imposing on the family in any way. The location was absolutely stunning and the castle itself was a gem of architecture beautifully and tastefully decorated with antiques. The breakfast was simple but delicious and we would definitely stay again.

Nice stay

The entrance of the Castle gives a great impression of its history. The village nearby and the private garden are very pleasant.

A restaurant should be opened in this place which looks a bit deserted after the breakfast. We had bad weather during our stay so the lack of human ambience inside the Castle was sad.

Johns birthday break

Very warm welcome. We loved the house and the gardens. Our room was very comfortable with a beautiful view of the harbour and boats. Our favourite part was definitely the delicious breakfast and wonderful service we recieved. Would definately return.

A shame to only spend two nights

A unique setting, both the castle itself and its location. The room was full of charm and eccentricity, with its own private balcony with remarkable views across the inlet only meters away. Everyone there is so attentive and welcoming.

Definitely the nicest place we have stayed and the property was absolutely magnificent!

We received a warm welcome and our room was extremely elegant with modern updates while still maintaining a classic and traditional look. Breakfast was fantastic and the location is beautiful!

The town itself is a smaller town, so if you like going out and people watching it’s not really that kind of place. The views from the Castle are great and this was a perfect relaxation leg of our trip!
