Fabulous hotel - it feels like a really good hotel should as soon as you walk through the door - welcoming staff, decor gorgeous, wonderful room, pay for a castle view if you can, it’s worth it. Reception team went out of their way to be helpful when we had to change our booking at the last minute due to a cancelled ferry

The hotel location was excellent. The initial reaction to the reception staff was one of warmth and friendliness. Our room wasn't ready, so they moved our room. It provided a superb view of the castle.

Being honest, we were a bit disappointed with some of the attitude of the staff. There was not much politeness from some of the younger staff and their attitude was sometime quite abrupt and hostile. On the first evening's meal in the hotel, the starters were excellent, however, the main course was cold. The restaurant was cold and a bit soulless. Breakfasts were a lottery as to who was working. The buffet was a bit dry and staid, but the cooked omelette was done well.

The whole place was excellent, the location opposite the castle is an absolute bonus and the book shop up the road.
