Gateway en-suite bedroom only one bed next jhu

Excellent location, very responsive host

We stayed in the en suite queen bedroom with the private bathroom which is located in the basement of this home. This location was very close to Charles Village and the JHU campus. The queen bed was ok - clean and comfortable - a little bouncy being a spring mattress. Once we figured out where the window AC unit was and turned it on, it cooled the room significantly. The white noise from the AC helped my daughter sleep. A few things that may be important: You get a couple of packs of disposable bath and face towels instead of the towels pictured on the bed. There are stairs leading up to the front porch and once you enter, you need to take a narrow set of stairs down to reach the location of this suite with the private bathroom in the basement. We were moving five 50-pound bulky pieces of luggage and found this to be somewhat of a hassle. This is a multi-unit rental scenario with many rooms for rent in one row home; all bedrooms have their own door lock code. It seemed like some people are long-term renters.

We arrived after 8:30pm to drop off our luggage after multiple plane delays so after dinner we came back to the room closer to 10pm and was starting to get ready for bed when we found out that the toilet and shower stall had not been cleaned. We saw shampoo and conditioner streaks on the walls and dirt on the floor of the stall. Had to wear our sandals in the shower. There were many very noticeable and fecal stains around the toilet base and the top of and under the seat. The toilet seal was leaking a little. I used a lot of my Lysol wipes (luckily had them on hand for moving my daughter into her dorm) to clean the toilet seat and also stains on the floor and walls around the toilet. Lots of hair on the bathroom floor. However, the pedestal sink was clean. The next morning, I saw a couple people cleaning in the kitchen and the common bathroom on the main floor. They do have cleaners, just not sure why the bathroom downstairs was neglected. There is a small glass shelf in the bathroom that was useless - tilted down - barely hanging on the wall by nails in the grout and cannot store anything on it. The pedestal sink has very little space so we kept all toiletries on the table in the bedroom after wiping that vinyl table cover down as well. No hooks or rack to put our paper towel on, so that's why I needed to clean the toilet seat lid to have a place for our paper towel after our shower. Disappointed with the conditions in the bathroom overall. I paid for two nights but just stayed the first night.
