It's in a place called Marlia, about 10 minutes drive from Lucca. Marlia itself is very residential but across the road there's a nice little pasticceria, and there's a relatively modern pizza bar for dinner about 5 mins walk away. There's a basic kids play park about 10 minutes walk and near that there are more places to get coffee and lunch. The home itself is spacious and very well looked after by Annibale and Cristina who live nearby. They're not intrusive but will give you all the help you need for the expected requirements and unexpected events of holidaying in the area. The pool and garden are excellent and very well maintained. There were three of us but the house could easily have accommodated another family - if there were more of us, it would have been much better value.
Mosquitos are a problem anywhere and here is no exception. Maybe mosquito screens on the windows would allow the house to be aired. We just kept the windows closed and there is air-conditioning in every room so it wasn't really an issue. A new microwave would be good.
