Stranded at midnight with wrong check-in code for an occupied unit, misleading loft photos, damp wal
1. Wrong check-in instructions & stranded at midnight: Before my arrival on October 14, the management sent written self check-in instructions directing me to the 2nd (top) floor, unit 3, with lockbox code ****. After arriving around midnight in pouring rain following a diverted flight, code **** did not work and the lights were on inside. When I rang the bell, I discovered another family was already living in unit 3 on a reservation running from October 9 to 15. Only the next morning at 08:02 did management admit their system sent me the check-in instructions for the occupied upper-floor apartment instead of the ground-floor unit. Because of this blunder, I was stranded on the street at midnight and forced to book another hotel for the first night.
2. Misleading listing name & photos: When booked, the property was titled "Bright Loft with 3 bedrooms and terrace in Galata" and advertised with high-floor panoramic Bosphorus view photos and loft interior photos that actually belong to the upstairs unit. In reality, you are placed in a ground-floor entrance-level flat with no view and no rooftop terrace, and the listing was subsequently renamed "Tomtom Terrace & Garden Apartments."
3. Maintenance issues, damp walls & no running water: Upon finally checking into the ground-floor apartment on the second day, there was no running water at all. The walls inside the ground-floor apartment have bubbling, peeling paint from heavy moisture and suspected mold underneath, and the guests occupying the upstairs loft reported that the roof was actively leaking inside their apartment during the rain. Furthermore, the pre-arrival ID registration link sent by the host was broken until requested again.
