The riad was centrally located, with the center of Marrakech just a 5–10 minute walk away. While riads can sometimes be noisy due to their traditional design, this one was surprisingly well insulated. We rarely heard other guests or staff throughout our stay, which made it feel peaceful and relaxing.
Breakfast was personally served by the staff and included a wonderful variety of local foods, along with fresh fruit, jams, coffee, and tea. Overall, it was a comfortable and welcoming place to stay while exploring Marrakech.
Despite being centrally located, the riad can be a little difficult to find at first, as you have to navigate through several narrow alleyways. Overall, we felt safe in the area, even at night, although women traveling alone may feel slightly less comfortable navigating the streets by themselves. That said, the local people were consistently friendly and willing to help whenever we needed assistance.

There is just so much to like about this property. Even though it is located deep in the Medina, the riad itself is an oasis of calm and peace.
What we loved:
*Although the riad itself is fantastic for so many reasons, the staff are what make this place truly outstanding. They were so welcoming and kind, that we were genuinely sad to go. They did everything to accomodate any need we had (arranging breakfast bags for early excursion departures and suppers on the roof terrace, doing our laundry, arranging our transfer to the train station and helping us lug our suitcases to our pick up point).
*The riad was charming, beautifully decorated, and spotlessly clean. It only has 9 rooms (I believe) and we loved the peaceful, uncrowded, and unhurried vibe of the place.
*Our room wasn't very big, but it had everything we needed to be cozy, comfortable, and content. My daughter and I are both neurodivergent and the room felt wonderfully soothing after a long day of being bombarded by all kinds of stimuli. Marrakech is an amazing city, but it is crowded, loud, and bright.
*The AC worked perfectly (very important after a day of exploring the city in the heat).
*The beds were firm, but comfortable. The sheets were very soft, and the pillows were plump.
*The meals were excellent. Breakfast felt absolutely luxurious with a variety of food, excellent coffee, tea, and fresh orange juice. Dinners on the roof terrace allowed us to relax while enjoying excellent Moroccan fare.
*We loved visiting with Mouni, the riad's cat. It was one of the reasons we picked this property.
*We would definitely stay at Riad of the Moon if we came back to Marrakech.
This was not the fault of the riad in any way:
It was a bit hard to find at first because our taxi driver decided to drop us off at the complete other end of the Medina. The easiest way to get there is to use the Medina entrance by the Café de France restaurant in Jemaa el Fna Square and turn right at the Botanical Pharmacy shop. From there, the riad is about 5 minutes away. Once we knew that, we were able to navigate effortlessly around the area. The alleys look a bit sketchy, but my daughter and I never felt unsafe, even at night or at 6am.
