If you’d like to experience rural Istria up close, then Villa Mate is just the place for you. Situated in a small village near Pazin, this former farmhouse has been renovated and adapted to meet guests’ needs, whilst retaining its original charm.
As soon as you step onto the large grounds, surrounded by traditional dry stone walls, the lovely garden catches your eye. The refreshing swimming pool is perfect for swimming, sunbathing and relaxing. A covered dining area with a barbecue promises many wonderful evenings of barbecuing with family and friends. Spread across three buildings, Villa Mate has four bedrooms that can accommodate up to eight people. The main building features a living room, a large, fully equipped kitchen with a dining area, two bedrooms and a bathroom. The second building has a small living room, a kitchen and a bedroom. The third cottage is a self-contained flat comprising a living-dining area with a sofa bed, a bedroom and a small bathroom. This beautiful Villa Mate is situated inland on the breathtaking Istrian peninsula. The Pazin Cave and Pazin Castle, which inspired the French writer Jules Verne in his novel *Mathias Sandorf*, are just a short drive (5 km) from Villa Mate. Central Istria is renowned for its small, picturesque medieval towns, which are irresistibly reminiscent of Tuscany or Provence. During your stay in Istria, you can visit the Euphrasian Basilica (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) in the old town of Poreč (30 km), the well-preserved Roman amphitheatre in Pula (45 km), or head to the nearest beach to relax. During your stay at Villa Mate, you can also enjoy regional cuisine and a glass of fine Istrian wine.
