Good location , lovely cottage
Has all the right elements to be great
Several issues - overall cottage has all the right elements but suffers from a lack of attention to detail. 1. Kitchen - dirty oven ( I had to clean it before I could use it!) Needs professional clean. Dishwasher full of water and smelly had to clean and sort out the drain, same with the Washing machine. All oven pans dirty and needed cleaning before use. Kettle needs descaling. Some crockery was also dirty.
Bathroom clean but shower drain cover dirty and not draining properly.
Bedroom Ill-fitting curtains , windows need attention. Linen clean but very worn and dated.
Had to hunt for information book which was inadequate and falling apart.
For the cost of the cottage these issues need addressing.

Location is good. When we had an issue with the toilet flushing, we were able to get a quick response and resolution from the caretaker.
Interesting historical references to the original use of the cottage.
Not suitable for young children! My 3 year old was easily able to fully open the upstairs window! (Luckily, I was able to fasten it with some string).
The first thing I noticed on entering the cottage was that it was very dark. This can't be helped, however, I think it could be better counteracted with the furnishings, maintenance, and general upkeep.
We were warned that a gardener may need to visit during our stay, but the outside area did not look particularly well cared for either.
There was a packet of nice biscuits left out for us, which we appreciated.
But broken light shades, uncomfortable furniture, and a general lack of care and attention to detail left us disappointed, unfortunately.
Perhaps it is more cosy in the winter.
But for the price we paid, I would expect it to be more comfortable and welcoming.
