Absolute joy at Higher Melcombe Manor.
As a cyclist I was looking for not only a central location for exploring the beautiful Dorset countryside but also the opportunity to escape to a peaceful and tranquil location. In addition to the stunning landscape that surrounds the property I could never have imagined the sincere and welcoming experience that I received.
Simon and Nicky are incredibly kind and generous hosts and their home is not only steeped in history but also has a warm country charm that I truly enjoyed after a long day of riding.
The local village has a beautiful pub and a country shop that will satisfy your culinary needs both formally and otherwise.
An unexpected treat was being able to play guutar and sing in the lovely chapel.
I did not want to leave.

It is rare to be able to stay in such a historic building that is also a family home. The location is beautiful, surrounded by Dorset hills. The hosts are most hospitable. Despite the house being on a working farm, there is no smell or flies, due to there being only stock raising.
