Absolutely beautiful shepherds hut in a lovely location on the edge of Chagford. The hut is cosy and very well equipped, and is surrounded by a piece of private garden. It’s a short walk into the centre of Chagford, and you are only about a five minute walk from Chagford swimming pool. The river can be reached at the bottom of the adjoining field, and you are right on a couple of footpaths - perfect for starting a walk in the surrounding countryside. The open moors can be reached easily either on foot if you’re a walker, or quickly by car. Hosts were helpful and friendly, and we appreciated the little touches like fresh milk and eggs on arrival. We absolutely loved the skylight that allowed for stargazing, and the peace and quiet of Dartmoor national park made this a deeply relaxing place to stay.
Not something we disliked, but something to highlight that might be difficult for some guests - the bed folds away into the wall and needs to be pulled down to sleep. This is an easy and well-explained process, but does involve folding down the table, which is quite heavy. If you’re on your own, it might be a bit of a struggle to fold the table back up in the morning!

Everything - location is perfect! Quiet and relaxed. A short walk to the town where there are plenty of shops and restaurants/pubs.
The hut itself - very well thought out, it has everything that you need for that glamping experience! Firepit was lovely in the evening, plenty of places to sit and relax in the garden. Chickens to admire! As well as the resident cat...he came to say hello most days. Just absolutely beautiful! We will definitely be visiting again 😊 Thankyou hosts of Rushford Shepherds Hut...
There was nothing apart from the compost loo maybe however this is a new experience for us so thats not really a negative on the hosts... there really is nothing to not like at Rushfords Shepherds Hut!!
