After we got over the first hurdle of having to pay cash up front with no invoice available at the time, or Eftpos available, the apartment was reasonably comfortable. It had 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Very tired apartment and doesn’t look like any of the pictures on the website. The apartment was made to look glamorous and it was not.
There is a lovely home made pizza restaurant at the end of the street that was packed out every night. Location was disappointing, no supermarkets anywhere apart from a basic Winmart. Even though it was District one it was a long way from any sights and transport, more a residential area. It certainly was not Luxury.
When we arrived somebody came after a while to let us in and show us the code etc They did not speak any English so the owner/Manager was on the phone to interpret. All the manager wanted was us to pay the money up front and insisted she wanted our ID to take until we paid. We were not happy with this, so she said that the person who let us into the apartment had to come with us while we got money out of an ATM. The lovely lady with us took us to an ATM but it was broken. In the end I paid in US but it left us with a sour taste. In hindsight I wouldn’t book an apartment unless it was in a hotel with reception in Vietnam. There was no information available in the apartment. The furniture was tired and smelt of cigarettes. The water given was in a half used container, ? Was it drinkable.
