The location of this apartment is absolutely superb--just one block off the sea, very close to a fabulous swimming platform and cove, a 10-minute walk to the daily market, and less than a block from many fantastic restaurants. The apartment has a generous main-floor living/dining/kitchen area with beautiful and comfortable decor, a large sectional (a rarity in Sicilian apartments), and modern amenities, plus a full bathroom. Up a set of stairs, the master bedroom has a large ensuite and a soaking tub; the smaller second bedroom has two twin beds and is a bit tight for two adults with minimal storage. Note that the second bathroom is located down the stairs from the bedrooms. The rooftop area was wonderful, with a lovely view of the sea and plenty of room for our group of four to be at the dining table with 4 chairs. There were two comfortable loungers, an outdoor grill, and a large bench area for additional seating. We appreciated the sun awning as well. There are several levels of stairs to ascend to get to the apartment, but it was well worth it. Once inside the apartment, there is one set of stairs to the bedroom level and another to the rooftop deck.
The only negative for us was the check-in process upon arrival. We were told to pick up the keys at one address via the Booking.com directions, and then a couple of days in advance, we were given a different address. We gave that one to our driver and made arrangements with him to take us there. On the ride, I checked my WhatsApp and saw that we were given yet another different address for key pickup. Thankfully, we had a driver who was able to get on the phone with the host to figure out where to take us. Once we arrived at the property, we were unable to open the key box using the code we'd been sent. We tried several times and had to reach out to the host (who didn't answer on the first attempt even though she knew we were arriving and said she'd be available). Thankfully, our driver interceded again, and we learned we'd been given the wrong key box code--twice. The numbers had been transposed. After much stress and delay, we finally got the right code and were able to enter the apartment. Not only was this stressful for us, but the required help from our driver cost him an extra 45 minutes of his time. We would have literally been lost without him.

The property was very quiet and clean. Very spacious and the beds were extremely comfortable. Even if we never meet the owner, he always quickly answered our needs and gave us great guidance to where to go.

The apartment is very spacious and is ideally located for exploring Syracuse and the whole southeast of Sicily with a car. Ortigia has a ZTL (restricted car access), but you get access with the apartment to drop off and pick up bags. Parking at the public parking at Talete was an easy 5-minute walk away. Ortigia is easily explored on foot as there is no non-resident parking inside the ZTL. The apartment is well equipped with everything you need, including a dishwasher, a washing machine and a drying rack. The temperatures in Ortigia were in the high 20s, low 30s for the week we were there and the air conditioning in each room worked well. The hosts were very helpful and communicative and provided lots of good suggestions. Restaurants and mini marts are within easy walking distance. There are about 40 steps from the street level to the apartment, so people with mobility issues should consider this. Overall, we had a great stay, felt we got value for our money and would highly recommend it to others

Upon our arrival, we were greeted by Alessandra, who made a wonderful first impression. She was exceptionally pleasant and welcoming, immediately putting us at ease.
The location and the apartment were perfect, enhancing our overall experience from the very beginning.
One minor suggestion for improvement would be to provide more than three wine glasses, especially considering the setting in Italy :-)
