Taru Villas Villu - Wilpattu

This is a five star luxury resort that feels like an extension on the national park. Preneeth, the hotel manager does an incredible job of running the villas and also accompanies some of the safaris. He is so kind and gentle and genuinely loves his job and his love for the wildlife is so beautiful to see. Jeewan makes sure that you are always fed and have a gin and tonic in hand. The staff , food and service are all excellent. It’s hard to sometimes leave the villas with the monkeys playing by the pool and all of the delicious meals. I cannot recommend this property highly enough. I did a lot of research on which parks to visit and Wilpattu was a winner. We saw lots of elephants , monkeys , peacocks 🦚, crocodiles and deer. On the last evening we celebrated our birthdays and the staff organised a surprise dinner for us beside the river. We were joined by a big male elephant swimming and eating right beside us.

The hotel and food were incredible. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We stayed 2 nights for our honeymoon and for our second meal we had a private table in the garden with lanterns which was very thoughtful. We did a half day safari and only saw 1 other jeep though-out the whole morning. We saw 7 elephants including a tusker which was a trip highlight! The room and jacuzzi was beautiful as well as the main hotel pool. We really enjoyed the stay and would definitely recommend!

For the second night people stayed in the adjoining room and we could hear them talking at times.
