Both the staff and host are exceptionally friendly and helpful. Its located in the heart of Haad Rin with a quick walk to the beach, a gym, a kitchen and an amazing chill area for slower days. Ive prolonged by stay multiple times and can only recommend MBAR to everyone staying on Koh Phangan!

Lovely staff - the young lady that cleaned the hostel was so welcoming and nice, she made us feel at home! The staff would constantly bring you cool water and were always up for having a conversation. Very welcoming on arrival, they offered us towels for the beach before check in, and if we wanted new ones during our stay just to ask. Huge pro having normal towels and beach towels!
The 8 bed room was comfortable.
Very good location! For the price it was a perfect location very close to the beaches.
Unfortunately we got unlucky with the people in our room. They were very loud and pretty smelly…I know this can’t be helped but if you prefer being in an environment with less people I would book one of the smaller rooms. Our regret was listening to the reviews about the comfort of the beds in the 8 bed being better, but this came at the cost of a large group of men in the 8 bed being very loud at all hours.
The bathroom had a bad smell, I think it’s the drains . Perhaps these could be deep cleaned I know it’s difficult with it being an island.
