Hostel is in former nuns and priest quarters. I loved it here. I chose women’s 8 bed dorm for two night stay. Had room to myself. Very peaceful. Met nice young travelers. Many clean bathrooms, hot water and 5 star hotel crisp & clean sheets avail. Evenings turn cool so this little hillside town fills up w posh city ppl & tourists at night for dinner.
Cortona is about 90 min train ride from Florence train station. Then local bus takes u up to Cortona(about 7 min ride up). Driver drops u off in btn the towns entrance gates. From there it’s about 15 min walk up to Hostel with backpack. Staff allowed an early check in which is rare these days and appreciated.

The location is good. It's right across S. Marco church.
Two steps away from the hostel there are truly breathtaking views to the valley below. The main dining hall is very spacious and nice. The price is still somewhat convenient for Cortona. The staff was nice and efficient (when present).
On a one week stay, the cleaning of the facilities was only done once. There were beds that kept their dirty sheets days after the guests had left. The bathrooms were also not the cleanest as a result (especially after big groups). The kitchen does not have a stove or oven (only a kettle, a microwave and a toaster). The fridge is small. Making it hard to prepare meals. The hostel also does not offer a laundry service (or washing machines); so to wash clothes one must use the laundromat in the city centre.
