Days before my arrival, I was in communication with the host and made her to know that I would be arriving late. She sent detailed instruction of how to get to the location, including ways of accessing the keys in the lockbox.
The host could not provide any address for the property. According to her, I would have to give the direction she gave to the driver to get to the property. I was fortunate to get a Driver that gave me access to wifi hotspot and so was able to communicate with the host. The taxi driver could not locate the apartment building and so called the host on whatsapp and she spoke in French and the driver was eventually able to get me to the property. I had assumed that my worry was over when I was at the property, but it just started. At this time, the taxi driver with wifi hotspot had left and so could no longer communicate with the host. Then I tried to access the keys in the lock box and was unable to do so. The Security Guard could not do so either, and so tried to call the Host on the mobile but went to voicemail. I tried every possible method and was not successful and the host could no longer be reached. Thank God, one of the residents in the Apartment Building was going out and I had to plead to allow me use its wifi to call the Host but she did not pick the call. And then the resident of the Building helped me to open the lockbox. Without this person's help, there was no way I would have been able to enter the apartment. So, for anyone that does not speak french and that may come late at night, you could be stranded as the host will not be there to receive you. In addition, on getting inside, I noticed a lot of mosquitoes as the apartment was on the Ground Floor and the place was not sprayed before my arrival. Different parts of the property were also dirty especially the shelves in the wardrobe. I could not put my things. The bathroom towels should have been replaced as they could not towel my body. I had to use the hand towel provided. I was in the apartment for 4 nights, and I had expected that the host would arrange for cleaning at least every 2 or 3 nights. But no cleaning was ever done.
