Difficult to rate this property. The main room was gorgeous, huge, full of natural light, with lovely big comfortable sofas, lots of cosy rugs, attractive carpets, good lighting, and excellent kitchen facilities and equipment, with lots of basics for cooking. It was lovely to find the solid-fuel-burning stove lit for us when we arrived, and the wall-heaters worked fine. It was a very pleasant place to spend time when the weather wasn't great, with piles of books to browse, and candles to light, a small TV and a radio. The host is obviously a kind and thoughtful person, and left us a delicious bottle of wine. The location is fabulous, close to the village of Durrus, utterly peaceful, and very conveniently placed for exploring the wonderful surroundings. Plenty of parking space. Compared to other places, it was good value. But...
The hallway and bedroom were very musty. The bedroom was dark and the bed was small for two large-ish people. There was nowhere to hang anything, and only a distressed chest to unpack our clothes into. There was an old chair that took up a lot of space, and far too many ornamental cushions, which probably added to the damp feel. The host had kindly left the electric blanket on in the bed, which was certainly needed. One of us ended up sleeping on the sofa bed in the main room, which was OK. The bathroom, accessed through the bedroom, was mixed - modern and clean in parts, but a broken down old chair made it feel a bit gloomy.
Maybe getting rid of some of the old dried flowers etc., a good de-clutter, removing some of the piles of magazines, and some of the superfluous cushions and bits and bobs would help freshen the atmosphere. A deep clean to remove the faint odour of pets, and their hair, would be good. Although a sea view and a river view were advertised, they were not visible from the property.
We didn't meet our host, and maybe if we had it would have been harder to be this honest. If you like a bohemian aesthetic, and can cope with the above (I'd read some of the other reviews and we decided to come anyway) it's worth it - we had a memorable and, overall, lovely stay. Chiaroscuro.

De woning is ruim en het gebruik van alle faciliteiten wordt goed uitgelegd. Er is een goede wasmachine en de bedden zijn best okay. We hadden een kleine issue met beddengoed, maar de host kwam direct naar het huis om dat op te lossen.
Het huis is erg rommelig, met overal spiegels, snuisterijen en boeken. De gang en de huiskamer voelden niet echt schoon. Je ruikt duidelijk dat hier vaak huisdieren zijn en op veel plekken liggen kattenharen op de vloer. De koelkast was van buiten ook niet schoon.
