We all seek something different when searching for a home away from home.
We spent much time searching for a place to stay in Valletta and when we came across ‘Sam’s place’ we did not hesitate in making a booking.
The apartment is precisely as described. As you walk in you climb a short staircase to the bedroom, front room / lounge, bathroom and a kitchen with a staircase that leads to the roof terrace. There is a short hallway connecting all rooms.
If you expect a fault, there is none. The kitchen is well equipped (although we did not use it as it was too hot to cook). The fridge is large and there is a small freezer. No microwave but we never needed it.
We stayed during the hottest season and the days were spent dripping in sweat as soon as you stepped out of the front door so we needed to hand wash our clothes which dried immediately on the roof terrace. If a small washing machine could be fitted for times like this, then that would be perfect but we made to (quite easily) with hand washing and there is a laundrette nearby but we chose not to use it.
As mentioned previously, Sam’s Place is a short walk from the main busy streets in Valletta and amazingly quiet. You wouldn’t know you were so close. Great if you want to get amongst it and great if you want a quiet night in.
The air conditioning units in the bedroom and front room were well appreciated and if we were to return to Valletta, we would seek Sam’s Place out again.
To our host. Thank you. For responding as quickly as you did when I had the odd question or two and the effort made to ensure we were okay when our airline ‘mislaid’ our luggage.

What a surprise! We booked with no real clue of how good its location is, and arrived around 9pm in the dark. After dropping our bags in the bedroom, we went up to the roof terrace.
Wow. Wow. Wow. What a view!
(We spent most of our non-sleeping time at the apartment sitting on the terrace watching the boats go by - it’s really quite special)
The apartment itself, is spacious and a well-appointed, with a very modern kitchen. The bathroom is tiny, but the shower is marvellous. The kingsize bed was much appreciated after long days sightseeing, and I must mention that this apartment is in the heart of Valletta - the good restaurants (and bars) are 5 minutes away, but there is no noise pollution when you’re trying to sleep.
It is also conveniently located near to the boat-taxis (you can literally look from the roof and see whether there’s a queue or not!), and about 10/15 mins walk to the bus depot if you want to explore the island further (we did, and it is worth it - it’s all beautiful).
For our first-time visiting Malta, we hit the jackpot with this apartment. I cannot think of anything that would have made it any better than it already is.
Worth-noting: UK plugs in Malta. There are also USB (B) sockets in the apartment.
It took me a day to work out that I needed to turn on the hot water (there’s a switch right outside the bathroom, that I just didn’t notice!).
Also, sorry, I only took photos of the pretty street that the apartment is on, and the incredible view!
