Beautiful old main building and well constructed new wing that blended seamlessly with the old main Hall.
However, due to the layout and lack of lifts it meant a really long walk from our room to the main reception area.
The Hotel seemed to have a lack of staff - the very nice mature lady at reception, was multitasking and ended up carrying our bags up to the room. This staff shortage manifested itself later when we went to have dinner - to be told that the gas was off in the kitchen and therefore they could only serve cold food. A complaint - but not necessarily to the limited staff, was to the guests that stubbed their cigarette butts out on the lawn by the outside terrace - unacceptable behaviour.
All in all - beautiful location but only an acceptable level of service and facilities - the public rooms were dated and more resembled the local golf club.
It could be so much better.

Everything was exceptional. The staff was incredibly helpful. The rooms were gorgeous. The food was great. But I cannot say anything better about that staff. They were absolutely lovely.

We booked this hotel last minute when our previous accommodation let us down. What a surprise! The hotel is gorgeous. The staff couldn’t do enough for us, the hotel was very charming, the grounds were stunning as well.
Breakfast was the only slight disappointment with the quality of the food however the experience made up for it.
