This is an onsen ryokan. A natural hot spring Japanese style inn. It is quiet and relaxing. If there is not an option for dinner when you book, contact the hotel directly (not Expedia). It is a must to participate in eating the multi course meal. Not only is it delicious, there is not much near by. Each night the menu changes, but it is a set menu. You will not be disappointed. Also, schedule your pick up at the train station.

The room was spacious & elegantly furnished. The personal onsen was such a treat. Amenities were excellent.
My only criticism was the fact that the towels were thin & the pillows small & hard but I do understand that’s my own personal preference. A small negative to a wonderful stay.
The staff couldn’t have been more polite, friendly & helpful. They are the true asset for this establishment.
We opted for half board. The food was beautifully presented, extremely generous & delicious.
The actual site was cosy, nestled in a small village, in a valley surrounded by mountains. Such a peaceful retreat - a balm to one’s spirit.
