Not every day you stay in a literal castle. Walking up to and around the castle and knowing it would be our home for a short time was awe inspiring. Just what we were looking for. It was perfect to eat outdoors at the bistro in the courtyard as if it were home.
Inside, the bistro has a terrific menu and the dining experience at Aurum’s would be fitting for royalty. I came with my son and would like to return with the rest of my family. I will note that The interior is most like a modern 5 star hotel with details of age - the aura of age doesn’t hold as strong - but not sure I would want to really feel like it was 1060 when I went to go to sleep….

We stopped here when driving to Germany from UK. It was excellent. A perfect stop off with great rooms (decor ridiculously over the top but funny and comfortable rather than mad). Restaurant great. Grounds great. And you can drink the wine from their vineyards (which we did). I don’t know why this place would exist where it does or how it survives, but the restaurant was packed - must be the place to eat for the locals.

We had an amazing overnight stay. The room was spacious and clean. The staff were very friendly. The kids like the turndown service and little surprise presents.
Will definitely recommend and will plan a longer stay next time .
