The Creekside Inn is basic, but in Alpine County, if that's where you want to be (and it offers incredible outdoor opportunities and natural beauty year-round!), basic is pretty good. It's quiet, and not at all as pricey as most of the alternatives (of which there are very few). Fabulous restaurant, Stonefly, across the street, is open for dinner Th-Sun. We haven't tried the hotel next door as an alternative for dinner M-W, but that's basically your only option. For decent coffee, there is Mad Dog Cafe in Woodford's, though it doesn't open till 9 a.m. We arrived about 5 p.m. and the room was quite warm. It does cool off at night, but be aware there is no air-conditioning (though we know from past experience, that the heat does work in the winter! Comfortable beds, clean bathroom, one sitting chair, and a TV -- do you need more?

Manager on site is fantastic. Very helpful and accommodating. Property is rustic but clean and comfortable.
