Stay At Your Own Risk

The home had plenty of beds, and every single one had bugs — in the mattresses, on the sheets, and in the blankets. We also found them in the showers, sinks, and bathtubs. There were bugs crawling in every room of the house.

We arrived late at night and had no choice but to stay up until 4 a.m. vacuuming mattresses and washing all the bedding just to make the beds usable. It was the 4th of July weekend, and every nearby hotel and rental was fully booked. Our only alternative was to drive 8 hours back. The company sent pest control the next day, but that only made things worse—more bugs emerged, and none of them appeared to be dead after treatment. We stayed because we had no other viable option, not because the property was acceptable. The conditions were completely unsanitary, the experience was extremely distressing, and it ruined our vacation. The company’s refusal to offer a full refund—citing the fact that we “stayed”—is deeply disappointing given the circumstances we were forced to endure.
