Our room was beautiful and super comfortable. The onsen experience is amazing. We loved our stay.
The facilities are smaller than the pictures show - it’s all lovely but quite small.
Food was not great. The vegetarian dinner did not meet expectations or match the price paid. Breakfast was okay.

Our stay at Araya Totoan was one of the highlights of our trip to Japan.
From the moment we arrived, we felt genuinely welcomed. The hospitality was exceptional — warm, attentive and incredibly thoughtful, making us feel at home while experiencing traditional Japanese culture.
The ryokan itself is beautiful, peaceful and authentic. It provided the perfect setting to slow down, unwind and immerse ourselves in the unique atmosphere of Japan. The onsen baths were a wonderful experience, and the calm surroundings made it easy to completely switch off from everyday life.
What we appreciated most was the balance between tradition, comfort and heartfelt service. Everything felt authentic rather than staged for tourists, which made the experience even more special.
We would highly recommend Araya Totoan to anyone looking for a tranquil and genuine ryokan experience, especially those wanting to experience Japanese hospitality, culture and onsen traditions in a beautiful setting.
