First and Last Youth Hostel

It’s a really cool and chill place, very close to the ferry port, which was perfect after a 15-hour drive and a 1.5-hour ferry journey. We booked a double room with a private bathroom for a great price. It was pretty much exactly what I expected — nothing more, nothing less. They also have a great terrace where you can sit back and relax, which was a really nice bonus. The hosts are incredibly nice and friendly — and I have to say, the one with the long blond hair certainly didn’t hurt the overall experience. 😂 Overall, a great place to stay, especially if you’re arriving from or heading to the ferry.

Nothing much to complain about

Friendly staff, everyone was very welcoming, warm and helpful. Has all necessary facilities, a spacious kitchen, various toilets and despite the shared spaces it was tidy and quiet. Directly opposite the port, our dog was welcome, we were able to check out in the middle of the night to catch our ferry, too. Ideal for our family whenever we take the ferry. This was our second stay here. Thank you!

Parking can be limited and tricky but is free on the road! We eventually always find a spot.

You are literally under the auspice of the famous White Cliffs of Dover . It feels you are living next to history and become immersed in it. For a photographer that would be enough, but the place is full of character. Plenty of reading material , classic books. A pool table and darts. Guitars to play in private if one so wished. A huge kitchen with complementary breakfast. Unique and friendly atmosphere. I met some very interesting people. Some just passing through others making it their base for a while. I liked it.

I did like it. It’s very well priced, the owner was always on hand, providing local knowledge, plus very warm and friendly staff.
