A great overnight stop if you’re travelling by car. The staff were polite, and breakfast was tasty, although the selection was limited. You can walk to a shopping mall in under an hour, passing through a pleasant, green university campus along the way. Overall, I would recommend it for a night or two if you have a car or plan to use taxis.
Getting around on foot is difficult: there isn’t much within easy walking distance, and the hills are very steep, so bear that in mind.
Our room had no view, though perhaps that wasn’t such a drawback with Trabzon Airport down by the sea. There was no fresh-air ventilation either, so we had to sleep with the air conditioning on. There were also some minor plumbing issues, and the bathroom layout wasn’t particularly practical.
