The Reef Beach Resort - All Inclusive - East End, Grand Cayman

We stayed here for a week in the 2 bedroom condo with our teenagers, we all loved this place! The food was amazing and the staff was super amazing. After a day, they get to know you and converse with you, remember your orders, etc. It is very quiet there. The rooms are clean and beds are comfortable! The only things we did not like: There is only one bar and it is not close to the big pool. They also do not have servers around the pool so you have to walk back and forth and the frozen drinks are halfway melted before you’re back and ice in the cups are melted. The big pool needs to be cleaned more thoroughly and frequently (still nice and used it everyday, don’t get me wrong). The resort next door has a built up of seaweed or something up around the beach and the smell was rough.. so we just stayed at the bigger pool further away from it.. They were working on getting it cleaned up though. Regardless of the 3 downfalls, we will be back in the Spring!!

We loved the murphy beds-how awesome to have this extra sleeping space. We weren't expecting this from the Expedia website. We did almost every activity on the resort. We won at trivia! We played pickleball, experienced snorkeling, paddle boarded and kayaked twice. Tried snorking poolside. We enjoyed the magic show. By far we loved the poker!! Of all the staff, we remember and enjoyed this young man the most!! He also hosted many resort events. Although we don't sing, we loved karaoke night. I wear the bracelet weekly from the jewelry making event. My husband is a smoker; he absolutely appreciated the smoking area with the best views of the beach and close proximity to the bar. We are grandparents and traveled with our two grandsons, we range from 12 to 75 years. There were several families that were multi-generational. We did swim with the stingrays that included snorking, toured the caves, and swam with the iridescent fish. By far the favorite was the stingray/snorking trip. We got around by taxis, a bit expensive but I didn't want to rent a car and drive on the other side of the road. Taxi drivers are very accommodating to visitors. Last but not least the food was amazing, we had the all-inclusive plan. No upgrade to this plan is needed. Every single meal was very delicious!

The Reef is an amazing relaxing resort. The food is outstanding. Very friendly and helpful staff. Make sure to get the All- Inclusive Food & Beverage package, it really makes a huge difference for daily eating. The Caymans is very pricey. They accept US currency but their currency is British which is 20% - 30% stronger. Please get the All-inclusive upfront when booking. The bedding is very comfortable. You can request extra pillows if needed. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. Our room was facing the ocean with a balcony . If you like Caribbean food, it was served on Sunday night. The alcoholic beverages are included with All-inclusive. The alcoholic beverages were very good. There are no Ubers or Local Rides.. if you don’t plan to drive you will need to book excursions. The front desk is wonderful with booking excursions. See if you can get the best deals with the excursions. The resort is fit for family, couples, or singles.

My husband and I liked the location - East End - for the quiet and distance from touristy West End. We also absolutely loved the food. We purchased the package that included all meals and drinks, and we were never disappointed with the selection at meals or with the quality of all offerings. Neither of us is a "big drinker," so we did not drink often while there. When we did, however, we both found the cocktails very, very weak. We thought this must be because we were "drinks included" guests (as signified by our conspicuous wristbands). Our room on the ground floor opened onto a patio facing the beach. That cannot be found everywhere, and it was a big reason we chose this property. The views are spectacular. Unfortunately, this beach was not conducive to long walks since it smelled pretty bad due to the large amount of seaweed washed up. Even though the managers trucked it away each morning, the seaweed was relentless. We did not let it keep us from the beach, but this definitely soured the experience. The free-roaming chickens were cute, sometimes annoying, but always a conversation starter! Lastly - we did not realize there would be a sales pitch to buy into the property through time share. That was awkward and unwelcome. All in all, we are glad we visited Grand Cayman. If we return, though, we will look for another resort.
