We booked this property about a week before our planned stay in Oxford because the original property we booked suddenly couldn't accommodate us because of some kind of maintenance issue. I was excited about the property; it looked good in pictures and seemed like a great place to get over our jet lag from a long overseas flight. The host was great about communicating before our stay. When we landed a the airport, I contacted the host and asked if it was possible to check in at 2:30 instead of 4:00. I noted that I realized it was before the official check in, and that we were ok either way, but easier would be more convenient for us. I was told "sure". We arrived by taxi at 2:30 and used the codes provided to enter the property. In short, it had not been cleaned since the previous occupants. All beds slept in, towels on the floor, garbage on the floor, stale smells, dirty kitchen etc. I immediately attempted to contact the host to find out when the cleaning would take place. After not receiving an answer for 45 minutes, we, made a new reservation at another property nearby and left. After checking in to our new lodging, I finally received a reply from the host that the property was clean and they apologized for the mis-understanding. The amount of time in between our leaving that property and getting the message was pretty short. I'd be super surprised if the property was clean. Contacting Hotels.com did not resolve the issue, so we double paid for 3 nights.
