Really good place to stay. We felt safe all the time. The staff was friendly and communication worked when needed. The place is clean and reflects what is shown in the booking. Location was great, walking by you can get to the mayor attractions in the city.

Pretty good location, almost anywhere I'd want to go in Nice was little more than a 30 minute walk away, with lots of good public transport for most others. Only issue with location is that I was frequently going to palais des expositions which doesn't have a direct route by public transport so walking was usually faster.
I can't speak for the "student" aspect of the hotel as I used it just as a room for a few nights and never went to communal areas. But the room was clean with a good view and reasonably sized and a comfortable bed. My only other gripe was the door closing mechanism was inconsistent, you have to really tug on a door to ensure it stays closed sometimes I'd be scared when coming back to an open door and worry something was missing, but on days I put a lot of weight into closing the door it was fine.
