For the price the hotel is excellent value.
Beware that the car park entrance is via a shared driveway with one other hotel who have installed bollards making it very tight, especially up the steep drive from the relatively narrow main road. Any car without a good turning circle and being long will not be able to get in.
We stayed in the "Gothic Suite" as an "upgrade" to the room that we had originally booked. It was clean and comfortable and had a balcony. The view from the balcony wasn't spectacular but it would be a nice place to sit on a Summer's evening.
The shower room is adequate and the shower worked well.
It should be noted that the building isn't really suitable for those with a disability as it requires stair climbing to get anywhere, even up to the entrance.
We were given a brief tour of some of the other rooms by the host and they all looked nice. If you don't mind walking up a large number of stairs then the "Seaview" suite seems very nice and almost like an apartment. It also has a beautiful view over Torbay.
The breakfasts are fine, especially for the price.

The owner is very friendly and welcoming. The property provided us with a bedroom, lounge and balcony so there was plenty of space to move around in. Personalising your breakfast requests was a nice touch. As there are a few stairs to enter the premises don’t take large cases. There is an easy walk downhill to the seaside and back up a gradual incline through the main part of town. Poor Torquay itself looks very depressed with lots of places closed.

On arrival we were told be had been given a beautiful room huge bed sitting room and large bathroom with clawfoot bath. Beautifully clean.
