"The staff was very kind; we did have to use Google translate a bit, but they went out of their way to make sure I was happy. I arrived by bike and they also stored my bike in the lobby with no issues...."

Interesting hotel. It's very obviously a dated love hotel style. Be aware that name on Booking, on Google Maps and on the real life sign is all a little different. Very close to the station, but it's also almost the only hotel option in the town that is bookable online. The toilet had a bum gun, and the room had a floor fan, that I could point at my clothes to let them dry overnight. I planned to stay here 1 night but extended an additional night.
The room was ok for a dated hotel, but the bathroom only had a single light in it. The room had a smell but only in the entry way, i did not smell anything near the bed. The bathroom and shower floor could have a been a bit cleaner. One night, I could hear the TV from another room when I was trying to sleep.
The weirdest thing was the staff. Some of the staff are very reasonable and friendly. When I checked in at night, the front desk staff seemed very confused.
1. My confirmation number matched the confirmation number in their system,
2. the name on my ID matched the name on the reservation
3. the photo on my ID matched my own face
Even with all this the staff was very confused that this could be possible, and they asked me for a second form of ID? Why?
The next weird thing was in the morning, anytime I would leave like to go to 7eleven or something, the staff would freak out, they would chase me to the door and question me.
"what room are you in? what are you doing? where are you going?"
Each time I'd have to waste time convincing the staff I was just going to go eat or something. Why is this behavior necessary? Why was I treated like I was committing a crime? I already paid for the hotel, can I not come and go freely? It's very weird.
